The sooner the better. I've never been someplace I wanted to go back to quite as much.

3. That's saying a whole big mouthful coming from you
my extensively traveled friend. It is all I ever heard this island to be.
(have been to Oahu and Hawaii, 35 years ago, with a difficult companion and have wanted to go back and undo those lousy memories.)

I can just see how it would be calling you back, and Mz Pip too.

4. I think photographically . . .
. . . it's one of the most inspiring places I've been. So much of it is still unspoiled as well. I can see how some photographers spend years there just hiking around capturing the beauty. It's a small island. You can drive nearly all the way around it (not possible to drive all the way around) in a few hours. Nearly the whole inside parts of the island is still the way it was in the distant past. I hope next time to be in good enough shape and brave enough to hike the Nepali coast trail. It was closed when I was there so I was off the hook.

7. Found it:
http://www.dayhiker.com/directory/hawaii_nopali.htm

Even though an important part was missing in the detailed tale of the trek by the hiker, (HIS AGE), I found enough info to think that I could, for another year and about 3 months, pull off doing this thing. And for another year or so after that I could do it if I ordered the rubber dinghi (sp) at the end that brought me back.

So many possibilities, so little time.

8. I went from Ke'e beach
to Hanakapiai Beach and back in an afternoon. 4 miles total. It wasn't easy at all. Fun and very beautiful, but I was really glad to finally get back.
I've posted a few of these before. All on the trail or at Hanakapai beach.

9. In-con-ceivable (with a nod to "Princess Bride") Truly.

I can see in picture 2 and 3 why the hike was really hard. I suspect it was a lot of stringent ups and downs> Photos 2 and 3 remind me of Eyvind Earle's work of the California coast. His paintings and serigraphs.

The shots of the open water are making me suck in air to survive the sight.
Eye-popping.
So much to see and experience, and so little time.

Thank you so much for posting this.

5. That's a really nice image!
The luminosity, greenness, 3-D quality of the hills, the atmospherics... well done!
