Just A Weed

We have a weed here that has a beautiful flower, it has no natural enemies here in the islands which make it a prolific polluter covering large areas quickly.

I have now found that it is part of the Verbena Family with the pretty name of Lantana. The flowers are very pretty and probably that is the reason this plant was introduced to Tahiti...

1. Lantana is a pretty flower

but shouldn't be where it doesn't belong. I have seen it take over acres of land in Florida where it can freeze once in a while so not surprised it is a nuisance there. Really is a shame that way back people did not realize how much damage even a pretty alien species could cause. Then again many still don't get it.

Beautiful capture. I enjoy your photos specially as they are of a place that has always been the number one place I want to visit.
