New here with some questions
I have been following the photo contests for a long time now - what great and wonderful things you people here have shown!

I couldn't find a basic rules of submissions here. If there is such a thing can you give me the link? My main question about submissions is: is any photo manipulation allowed in image editors like Pshop? I know a bit of sharpen here and there won't really be noticeable but I'm thinking of things like super contrasts, and other obvious manip stuff.

1. This gets pretty subjective, but
We have agreed that if it can be done in the darkroom, it's allowed. An example of this is Ansel Adams's Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, 1941. Over years he reprinted this photo, continually manipulating contrast and exposure until he reached the classic version we know today. Certainly manipulated, and certainly allowed under our rules.

The exception is extreme manipulation unless there is a specific contest for that. We haven't yet discussed the inclusion of HDR because not many of us do it yet. I suspect that would be considered under special contest. The object here is to make good photographs. So sharpening, increasing contrast or saturation and such is part of that.

2. Here are the basic rules for submissions.
BASIC CONTEST/CHALLENGE RULES:

Only one entry per person.

Please try to keep your photograph entry no larger than 800 pixels in its longest dimension and under 200K in file size. (exceptions are often made)

NV Whino and others who have been here longer can address the extent of manipulation allowed.
