negative space? I certainly am. As always, I embrace the monthly challenges, because it makes me question, it makes me challenge my creativity, it makes me strive for that "perfect photo", and I will not submit a photo that I feel is not worthy of the photo contest.

Here are a few that I shot this afternoon.

Asparagus! I simply adore taking photos of food.


Merlot. *blushing* Yes, I do like the red . . . Although I really having a problem with reflections. If someone can comment, help, I'd be most appreciative.


Corks. No explanation necessary! LOL!

1. For what it's worth - it's bottoms up.

The bottom one is my favorite - I LOVE it, I would take off a little more than half the gray on the right, leaving just enough of a sliver of gray to keep the word Goliath readable, just being anal.

In the bottle photo the reflections are perfect, and startling, because nothing makes you know WHY they are there. I would straighten the bottle, being anal again, and I think all the greens, especially the negative space one are phenomenal.

The Asparagus is not my favorite, but surely it is good enough to eat!!! The center of the photo is sharp and my favorite part of it. For negative space though I would crop it totally differently.

If you don't mind, I'll show you.
(part of that hostessing thing is I get to run my mouth, and pretend it's part of the job)

4. I've been cropping some "normal" photos

To get negative space ones. I might show a few of those later. It's kind of fun, and kind of necessary, since my usual photos are not negative space.

2. I love the corks. I also really like the asparagus.

It is a fun theme to play with...

3. Frankly, I'm frustrated

and am not getting anything that really appeals to me.

6. Keep at it. Look around. Study the proverbial spaces between the cup and the handle.

Look in your files with new eyes, and start cropping.
Suddenly you'll see not much else.
