1. I like it . . .
Hi, Stephen . . . I like this, and all of the political art you've posted here. What media are you using for this one?

2. Thank you...
I draw on bond with HB until I get the geometry down and the extremes in value-only rough-and as vague as I can keep it. Then, I either scan it into Photoshop, or redraw it using the Intuos 9x tablet. The tablet is a real limiter for discovered line, and line speed, but I can translate those factors using fades, dissolve, and elipses in P.S.

I found that digital has many advantages, once I got beyond the limitatations of the line. Simultaneous contrast can be nailed with numerical accuracy, so dealing with reflective brush strokes and time of day-with temperature changes-is no problem. A systematic scaling of values and intensities can be developed, regardless of monitor limits, such that a work can read very closely to what I intend.

The draughtsmanship has the same effect, mechanically, as using gouache, acrylic, or oil, since the elemental approach to contrasts doesn't change. After all, it is to realize tangibly, those right hemisphere meanderings, no matter what the medium.

Thank you for looking and commenting.

Stephen
