My list of things i need for my house verses what i want for my house.
Ok what i need-

the exterior of my house painted, it is currently a really weird shade of beige, like the builder had some extra paint leftover from other houses and mixed it all together and Ta-dah---crap!

New Garage doors, insulated, currently i have builders grade shit doors, i bought some sad Styrofoam insulating panels but really, doors need to be replaced.

Carpet, i cannot express to you enough how awful the carpet is in my house, i picked a color close to dirt, i should have went with mud.

Want list-

I want my stove and refrigerator to just die already! I want a duel fuel range and a new fridge that doesn't make the bad sounds this one makes but dammit it still works---argh!

Family room furniture--seriously, wtf was i thinking when i bought this crap 10 years ago, was my taste really that bad---survey says---yes!

Bathrooms, all bathroom need to destroyed except for the floors, everything else is horrible wretched crap, awful cheap cabinets, shower pans that have probably been banned in at least 80 countries and toilets that were probably buy one get 2 free.

And my kitchen, the worst offender, el cheapo cabinetry with some really awful corian that i picked (see bad taste in furniture above) and the floor plan is terrible, there should be no island, there is no room for an island and because it's there it makes a decent sized kitchen only usable for one person at a time. the work triangle is really like the Bermuda triangle.

Ok thats my list, how about yours?

1. I need to paint every square inch of the interior (less two small walls)
but before I do that I have to remove expansion joints, plastic waistcoating, popcorn ceilings and prime and texture everything.

my kitchen is in pretty good shape, a coat of paint on the cabinets will do it in there. I need to rip out the built in 'hutch/sideboard' in the dining area and replace it with some usable storage.

all the furniture is OK in the living room, but I need more storage in the bedroom and want to convert our queen platform to a king and build a headboard

I need to install a pantry in the place of useless bookcases and overhaul the storage in both the den and the laundry room

other than that I'm ok

I feel your pain

2. the pantry, i have one in my kitchen, it's pretty obvious but when people come
to my house i always get the same question "What's behind that door" seriously, i just say "It's a wormhole" and then they always open it like it's an actual wormhole. If i had a friggin wormhole in my house wouldn't i have a better kitchen, i think so.

3. you should hang a black or white board on the door with something like
"Pantry Contents Inventory" listed and they'll still open it to check

4. i just don't want to get started.
BUT, my architect finally coughed up some reasonable plans, and i'm finally starting to get psyched.
we are replacing a decrepit 2 story enclosed porch on our 2 flat with a 3 story nice space with a greenhouse on the roof. he is getting it put on cad for me so i can beat on it a little. i will post when i get the jpegs.
but there is plenty to do in the rest of the house. like windows. like before this f'ing endless winter would have been nice, but....

5. We need to replace the basement floor and every contractor has wildly different impressions
of what to do. One says I cannot put insulation under the slab, another says I can use geotextile, one wants $26000, the others won't call back. waaah!

6. Oh my, how much time do you have? *lol*
NEED list:
Gutters/downspouts
Rotten window repair
Rotten siding repair
Prime/paint exterior
Dig up/reset patio block to drain AWAY from the house (the former owners of this place were about as sharp as marshmallows)
Entry doors/screen doors
Find out what the hell is leaking in the main bathroom *lol* need to replace damn near everything
Carpet has GOT TO GO (why the HELL would anyone who lives in the country choose WHITE BERBER??? Sheesh...)

WANT list:
Get rid of the damn popcorn ceilings
Interior paint - they painted the whole interior eggshell white when they put it on the market; it's bland as white toast
Finish the basement
Countertop/sink/faucets in half-bath
Countertops in kitchen
Cabinet doors/drawers (the bases are fine; I could keep those)
New appliances and furniture would be lovely, but I could live without that...

*sigh* I've got ten places to put every dollar I make as it is, so a lot of this is just going to have to wait,
