Alison Krauss
Any Alison Krauss fans here?

A friend has recently fallen hard for her music and I'd like to get him a CD for his birthday. But I'm not much of a fan (all I know of her is her work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou" soundtrack), so I need advice on a "definitive" Alison Krauss CD...any recommendations?

Thanks so much...
:hi:

1. Best
have a root around on amazon.com

Avoid any compilations of her greatest hits whatever because if your friend has already got some of the recordings you'd duplicate them. Can't you have a sneaky look to see what your friend already possesses ?

Any straight male is capable of falling for Alison Krauss ! I prefer Emmylou Harris - it's an age thing.

2. I did look around Amazon...
...there's a lot to choose from so I just wanted to know what people thought the "best of the best" was. Don't think he has any of her CDs, so I'm pretty safe getting most anything.

Thanks.

3. How's about
Alison Krauss & Union Station - Live. Seems to have a good selection on the CDs

That's a double CD and looks ok for $14.98 + mail from Amazon.com

You'll probably find you can pick it up local anyway.

4. You read my mind
I had pretty much decided on that one, but thought I'd get advice first...

Thanks for the input! :hi:

5. Her bluegrass or her pop stuff?
For bluegrass, I heartily recommend Two Highways, Every Time You Say Goodbye and Too Late to Cry. I think her pop stuff can get really sappy especially the last album. In any case, there's a really good dvd of a recent concert, AK + Union Station, Live. Two thumbs up. :donut: :donut: :)

6. There's also a dvd that we like, a mix of newgrass and pop.
AK Live.
