Weighted jump ropes?
I'm looking to add some jump rope work to my kettlebell training, and I can't find my old one.

I've seen these weighted ropes for sale - what's the benefit of those? I'm mostly just interested in the cardio aspects so I think a regular one is fine for me.

1. Go to the home improvement store
and buy some clothes line. That should do it.

2. Jump ropes are pretty cheap and have proper handles
This will be one of the cheapes pieces of eqipment you'll buy. They run around $4.99 for your basic and about $7.99 for a speed rope.

3. I spent $5.95
Nice wood handles, ball bearings, heavy nylon rope.

What I'm really curious about though is the 2 & 4 lb. ropes, as in how they'll condition you differently than a regular speed rope.

4. I use speed rope with weighted gloves...
the weighted gloves fit snug and don't shift around during all my cardio. Look at martial arts websites for snug fitting gloves.

Shooting around a basketball with these gloves is enough to get and keep me in the aerobic zone (over 130bpm).

Another option for those with deep pockets is a weighted vest. A good one will run you over $100 though. By a good one I mean one that will stay snug and not shift around during workout (major chafing).

I got one as a gift and simply walking can put me in aerobic zone. I can't shoot hoops with it though, heart rate will zoom over zone.

5. the weighted ropes are about an inch thick
at least, really works your shoulders and arms, cause their so thick its hard to do any speed jumping, so harder to get the cardio aspect. good workout, though.
