Saturday, 8/27/05 exercise thread.
I'm still being plagued by ridiculous sleeping problems, so I went out this morning just to ride with Jeanette to her bus stop for work and back (about a 4 mile round trip). I've been up since 3 yesterday afternoon, so if I'm going to have any hope of being up and at 'em early tomorrow morning, I'm going to have to turn in after this post and wake up in about 4 hours, then struggle to keep my eyes open until 8 or so this evening.

Add that to the 6-ish miles I got yesterday as I ran my errands and I'm still getting physical activity in, just not in the way I'd prefer to.

How did everyone else fare on this fine Saturday? :)

2. Lifted weights and did a 2 mile walk
I've increased the distance that I walk. I walk 2 miles on days that I lift and 3 miles on days that I don't lift. That's 18 miles a week which works out to 3150 calories burned for the week from walking. I heard somewhere that a pound of fat has about 3500 calories in it- I know, kind of gross to think of it in that way. So I should lose a pound a week just from walking. Then figure in that I'm eating 1600-2000 calories a day and that's another pound a week.

At least that's the way I hope it works.

5. First Saturday I actually exercised in a very long time
Trying to up the antee a little. Worked out at home on the Bowflex. It's been a long time and MAN did I forget what it feels like after months at the gym instead. It's pretty cool. I should switch them up more often.

BTW, a little legs and a lot of shoulders today.

6. you know i spent the day picking up my husband at the San Fran airport
and then we spent the day in the city, so i come home right and i start looking at the treadmill and knowing this thread would be here i decided it would be best for me to hop on for 30 minutes. Now we walked a lot today but i figured i should exercise anyhow so 30 minutes actually turned into an hour---so yes i did indeed exercise today!:)

8. out of commission
I saw the doctor about my shoulder on Friday. Bursitis. I can't take anti-inflammatory medicine so she gave me Tylenol w/ Codeine. I took some Friday night and when I woke up on Saturday, I was sick as a dog. Just the slightest bit of movement and I had the heaves.

I'm not taking the meds anymore, so I'm not nauseous, but that also means that my shoulder hurts like hell.

I'm going to stick to my cardio workouts on the track and on the elliptical, but anything involving weights or a 4-point stance is out for now.
