Thursday, 11/18: I worked out today--did you?
Hi gang :hi:

I jogged for 3 miles this morning and then I did my upper body workout (shoulders, chest, arms, etc) in the weight room.

I'm seeing a surgeon today about my hernia.

How did you folks make out today?

11. don't you hate ab work?
I do. Although my hernia might be part of why I hate it so (not to mention that it's probably the weakest area of my body).

12. Just how many different tapes do you have?
You probably have the highest variety of workouts of anyone I know.

7. I've not posted in this group before because I didn't have a star.
I ride a recumbent bicycle on the road for my cardio work, and use free weights (only, never use machines) at home. My normal workout with weights is 3-5 sets of 10-12 reps per set for three different muscle groups + only 3 sets of sit ups. An example is flat bench press w/dumbbell, flat flies, side deltoid raise, then sit ups - rest for 1 minute and repeat. No break between the different exercises, only the 1 minute rest when the series is complete.

I rarely do any leg work with weights, letting the bicycle do whatever it will for these old stems.

I’ve cut back considerably on the amount of weight in each exercise. After my third rotator cuff injury my doctor smiled and sweetly told me I’m not 25 any more. That was four years ago, and I’ve had no serious injury since that shoulder healed. I am currently 63 and retired.

Today’s workout was 1 hour on the bicycle, no weights today. Future entries will not be as long, wanted to introduce myself.

13. Welcome!
I don't do a lot of leg work either, but I do some. I figure w/ the running, the elliptical (today I did a hill climbing program on that machine) and the spinning class, my leg muscles get plenty use.

8. 45 minutes of cardio, then leg presses, low rowing
and some shoulder stabilization. Still working through the neck pain.

MissMillie, good luck today with your appointment!

15. Enjoy your day off!
I usually take weekends off, but as soon as the holidays are done, I'm going to start swimming on Sundays (so only Saturdays off after that).

16. Leg day
Squats
Hack Squats
leg extentions
standing calf raises
seated calf raises

and a little back and shoulder work to round out the day

Tough workout, I haven't trained my legs in a month. I could barely make it down the steps at the gym to leave. They felt like noodles.
