Thursday, 1/19: I worked out today--did you?
Hi gang :hi:

I ran a mile (I messed up w/ my stopwatch so I don't know what my time was--but it felt good!) and then did 20 minutes on the elliptical.

Then I went into the weight room and did a leg and lower back workout.

How did you folks do today?

2. I actually did something different!
I bought a balance ball and I tried their introductory workout video that came with it. It was a nice gentle workout. Feh, I was kind of bored actually. I think I'm going back to yoga tomorrow morning, regardless of the cold, and see how I do. I think I'll also hit half price books and see if I can find some cheapo videos including maybe one for the balance ball!

9. I got a little pamphlet from Amazon for the balance ball.
I have found it to be great for core training. I don't bother with it for much else. I do something called "roll-ups" which are really fun. Do plank position with your toes or shins balanced on the ball and your hands on the floor. Sloooooowly roll the ball to your hands by bending your knees (maintain a slight pike in your torso). If you want to be a real bad ass, now straighten your legs so you are in a half handstand. I do it angled to the sides for obliques, too. :hi:

4. 5 miles, 4% grade, 3.5 mph
Had to stop after 5 miles - that was quite the workout.

And balance ball for core training.
