A 30-year secret revealed (Double murder finally solved)

A onetime roommate of the man suspected of gunning down two people at a topless bar in 1975 -- a crime that remains a mystery -- now says he listened in terror as the suspect admitted what he had done.

After living quietly with what he knew for three decades, the former roommate, who is still fearful and reluctant to be involved, recently told investigators that James B. Braman Jr. confessed to shooting two people at the Bear Cave tavern.

Braman claimed he did it to get back at one of the victims, Frank "Sharkey" Hinkley, for double-crossing him on a deal to smuggle counterfeit money from Mexico, said David, who spoke to the Seattle P-I on the condition that his last name not be used.

The alleged scheme fell apart when the small plane supposedly carrying the money collided with another plane after making a stop in California.
