KOEB 10/12/05 (The Nexus of Politics and Terror Edition)

What can we say except...GO KEITH!

We'll be watching.

At least those of us who don't care quite as much about the Cards and the Astros. We'll be looking at a whole different ballgame with a hard-hitting batter...and when he connects, it'll be deep and I don't think it's gonna be playable.

Swing for the fences, Wild Thing!

4. Ready for the coincidental terror/political event happenings.
He looks dreamy. This outfit of the dark grey pin-striped suit, dusty purple shirt and lighter, patterned purple tie rocks! :loveya:

All this and Asa Hutchinson, too.

I think that GOP lawyer quote he just read came from Specter's camp. I just saw Nora ("I love this Administration!") O'Donnell and she said the staff lawyers are trying to come up with questions specially chosen to trip her up.

Oy. Let the unraveling continue. Amen.

Since I'm not an AI watcher, I'm not really up on what kind of put-downs are called for, but let me take a stab:

"Judy, you may call that singing if you wish, but all I heard was the voice of a stool pigeon."

How's that?

Tonight's service (Kol Nidre) is very pretty also. The music is spooky and gorgeous and the temple is usually lit by candles. It's the most church-like they get in Shul.

Yes, I know they're for Hanukkah but I don't care. My mother used to make them and I have missed them since long before she passed on. Even though my sisters and I had to grind the potatoes and onions ourselves in a meat grinder!

And that was with no Jewishness in the family...just Germanic heritage at work.

But that's what you get from NTSC television..."Never the Same Color."

I have a feeling, though, that this is the same shirt he's wearing in the famous publicity head shot. He should wear it more. Deep-colored shirts look GREAT on him.

200. honestly, berry?
i don't lust after ko either. i have fun pretending i do, playing around online, and while he is my type, i don't know him & chances are our paths will never cross, so why get all hot & bothered? i watch his show in tv almost every night & blog with a group of eccentrics (which i define as "weird but fun") on DU because it's fun, informative, & how i relax & wind down from my real job. that to me, he's eye candy is merely bonus points.

i realize this might be koeb heresy, but i am a fan of the show first & until i started sticking up for the poor, picked-on light gray suit, i didn't even notice what ko was wearing because i was focusing on the content of the show, especially the hard-hitting segments at the beginning. the fluff, not so much, but it's still fun & sometimes, like the Tooth Fairy story, very charming.

B-)

215. You may not believe it, but
the first things I noticed about KO were his faithfulness to doing true news, his sense of humor and his integrity.

But I think getting hot & bothered is FUN.

The way I see it, none of us in the KOEB should have to pretend to pant after him in order to belong, but neither should we feel the need to hide our panting (should we choose to do it) in order to appear properly intellectual and intelligent amongst our peers and earn their respect.

That having been said...I thought he looked damn hot tonight.

I wasn't trying to impugn anyone, honestly.

There is a difference between accusation and teasing. A lot of teasing goes on in the KOEB. It's pretty much a form of currency.

It's like I said...you don't have to pant for Keith to belong.

Sad ending to that story too...no, not what you think...the tigers couldn't metabolize human breast milk and they died.

So, well, after that particular story, Oddball featuring a dog suckling a squirrel seems, well, downright tame.

I'm actively looking for something else because I can not do this job for very long. My feet and legs hurt so bad by the time I get off I can hardly move. I use to work stand up jobs, but haven't done this type of work in over 15 years. Oh the pain!!!

The people I work with are decent enough, but Man...Wal-Mart is so full of crap, on my first day, I and the other four people that started had to watch a few videos about the history of Wal-Mart, but the worse one was about Unions and why it is a "very bad idea" for Wal-Mart to Unionize. It was incredible.

I'd collect all long, narrow and mouth-insertable things in my place, throw them in the sink, run water over them and throw them away.

I now have no pens and pencils anywhere.

And no further comments on this post from the peanut gallery. :-)

I don't think Asa's assessment stands up. Keith is being SO fair and calm and non-nutball about this and by doing so and having the obviously slanted Asa saying "Oh, there's nothing to what you're saying," it makes his calm, reasoned laying out of the incidents all the more damning than they would be if Keith screamed them all at full tinfoil-hat volume.

:loveya: calm Keith.

208. To Dream the Impossible Dream: "Frog March Puppet Theater".
It couldn't happen to a nicer guy: Watergate buff sportscaster-turned-newsman finds himself witnessing similar historical events but with far grander implications, all the while having a news show that has acquired enough credibility and eyeball-worthiness to book the very best guests to look at each day's developments, informed both by the acumen of the commentators and the guiding wisdom of the questions.

So: no Frog March Puppet Theater. Too flippant for this topic. Beyond, as they say, the pale: that final fence beyond which is wilderness, and whatever humanity may exist there savages. Yes, beyond the license of Bloggerman.

So it is up to us. We must make this happen.

We owe to Olbermann.

We owe it to Murrow.

We owe it to Ernie Kovacs.

We owe it to Steve Allen, Sid Caeser, and everyone whoever spoke sincerely without fear of being laughed at, or made jokes without fear of the wrath of the self-appointed stiflers of human joy and creativity.

I'm saving up popsicle sticks.

Woo hoo hoo.

217. Well said, bleev!
I can't wait for the day to come!

Of course, I can imagine Keith's reply...

"Oh, you're saying I'm a WATERGATE-buff sportscaster-turned-newsman. For a minute there, I thought you were saying I was a 'BUFF sportscaster-turned-newsman.' Definitely not the case."

219. I am bummed beyond belief that this is the KO show I had to miss both
real time and in the rerun. Anybody got a tape or did anyone on DU post a highlight. I heard he was magnificent, said something about 'Is this the threat of terror, or the terror of threats...'

Even without having seen it I can clearly send out some of these to our hero with extra backbone Keith Olbermann.
:loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

See, the rest of you presstitutes, it's not so hard to tell the truth, like KO does, in fact, it earns you respect and loyalty. Why don't you all follow his lead for a change. Telling the truth is easy, it's the lying and shilling that's hard.
