Any Hyatts on board here at DU? I've been researching my family history
and according to my aunt ( Father's sister, who was the historian in that side of the family who passed away in 2004, therefore we have lost all the drive to dig into this ) we have Hyatts in the family and I have been trying to find info on past family history but so far, nothing....My Aunt Ruth had told me a story about my great-great-great-aw, shit I don't know how many greats involved, grandfather who was a magistrate who acquitted the Hyatt on trial for whatever just based on the fact that they were friends, and this wasn't a known fact at the time ( good thing, I guess )...years later, one of my ancestors was involved in a crooked land deal and one of the Hyatts of that time period got them out of trouble and pretty much saved their ass and they walked away with a land deal which resulted in them holding that land comfortably for quite some time. At some point, there seems to have been a marriage between the two families that resulted in the offspring of several other relationships that spread out pretty much across the country ( mainly down South, but I'm not completely sure ) At any rate, any info someone here who is good at digging up information like this would be greatly appreciated. I've kind of given up at this point..I haven't found anything, but this came up in conversation tonight at my sisters birthday party and someone brought up the topic. My aunt also told me that ever since these incidents occurred, that our family ( the Stevensons )was extremely loyal to the Hyatts ( Sheppards and Mills as well ) almost to the point of fanaticism and we were to do whatever we could to protect their name and their integrity and if you bad-mouth a Hyatt in our presence, you got hit, and hard. This is what my Aunt Ruth told me...It doesn't make much sense right now, but I really need to try to research this history more, I just haven't had any luck coming up with any Google hits or anything?!no searches produced any results when I type in the these surnames

1. I'm not a Hyatt
But I will try to help you. I will need some more specifics -- first names, dates, and locations. PM me if you prefer.
