"Thanks to you I now have the proof," he told an audience of about 850 people who gave him a thunderous standing ovation during the induction ceremony at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, AR.

"This night's honor means the world to me," Clinton said.

Former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Rodney Slater, who is also from Arkansas, introduced Clinton at the induction ceremony. Slater was appointed to his former position by Clinton.

"Mr. President, you have given so many of us the opportunity to be the first Black this, the first Black that, and tonight we are going to give you the opportunity to become the first White inductee into the Black Hall of Fame."

Slater also noted, "It's not about the skin. It's about the spirit and the soul of this soul Brother."

Clinton was honored for a lifetime of work on behalf of Blacks around the world.

Clinton said the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame did for him what Black America has long asked of White America. "You have looked beyond the color of my skin to the work of my life and the color of my heart," he said.
