Weight Watchers Members 5/29 to 6/4
Well, I joined WW Online and today is my first day. I wish I had done this sooner -- I didn't realize how much WW had changed since I became a lifetime member about 15 years ago. I thought it was still all about counting exchanges.

I like the FLEX point system because I don't have to do anything drastically different -- just do a better job of keeping track of what I'm eating. The online tracking makes it really easy, too. I even earned 9 Activity Points today, though I'm not sure I'm going to *plan* to use those.

So let's discuss WW issues here and maybe one of us can start a new WW thread each week so they don't get too long.

1. Congratulations!
I'm noticing that the Flex points are there to nudge me into eating a more balanced diet than I was before. Since I'm in my first week, I'm not allowed to have activity points yet although I have been walking 30 to 90 minutes a day. My first weigh-in of the future me is on Friday.

2. Someone on the WW message board mentioned that you can't have APs
until the third week but I guess they tell you that at meetings because there's no mention of it in the online program and the online tracker has a place to calculate them. I think they want you to get used to the program first and have a couple of good losses before exercise can temporarily mess that up. I'm not really expecting the typical "big loss" the first week since I've been up and down so much. And I won't get a chance to earn any today due to my schedule so I'll have to stay within my original budget!

I think weekdays will be easier for me because I'm either teaching or tutoring all day so I can't eat much even if I want to. I just need to be more aware of what I eat when I get home.

My weigh-in is on Monday, here at home. I hope we both have a great first week! :)

4. Thanks, MissMillie!
I already feel better knowing that I'm following a plan for both eating and exercising.

5. I got weighed yesterday and ...
I lost 3 pounds! Since I worked pretty hard on this all week, I'm wondering if it's going to get any easier at some point. I'm going into my second week so I'm going over to walk around the Lincoln Center crafts show today, and then I'll walk a mile uptown and do some healthy grocery shopping on the way. I've changed my breakfast cereal to one with more fiber and fewer calories, switched over to 1% milk and reduced-fat mayo and am trying to eat way more fruits and veggies. Whew!

6. Good for you!
Those are great stats! :toast:

I bought the WW cereal and while it's okay, it has the same number of points as Peace Vanilla Almond Cluster, which I like even better.

I don't expect great results this week. I'm following the program to the letter and working out like crazy but my body's metabolism is so messed up. Also, I weighed myself last Saturday and then had many pina coladas on Sunday at my son-in-law's graduation party. I changed my weigh-in day to Monday but didn't weigh in again, so I think my initial numbers are going to be messed up.

But that's okay because I'm measuring success by following a healthy program, both food and exercise. If it takes awhile for the results, I'll still hang in there! I've been exercising like crazy this week so something's gotta give!

Last night, I had one of those nights when I just felt insatiable. But I counted the points of everything I ate and still have Flex points to spare for the week. So I'm still following the program! :D

7. I only used half my flex points last week.
But now I have 2 fewer points to spend per day this week and I'm not getting activity points until next week, so this week is going to be challenging. I just have to stay conscious.
