I fell off the wagon this weekend.
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 10:32 AM by supernova
:P

It started Friday night. I went out on a date. Really nice restaurant. I was a little nervous, so I dipped into the bread bowl. Fresh rolls and fresh really delicate cornbread. Delish. :9 x( I'm lucky they were small, however.

Saturday, instead of sticking to my eating plan, I went to the store and got some quinoa salad (no oil in it) and quite a lot of fruit. I ate all of that instead of my usual protein-focused diet. Normally, I eat veggies and a little fruit. But my taste for carbs has been reawakened. It's causing me to overeat. I also bought and ate a very rich candy bar.

Ugh.

Yesterday, I didn't go to the gym and that was a mistake. I didn't need to from a health standpoint, but it really does reign in my appetite. Without it, I will overdo it.

I even had to take a nap yesterday afternoon with all the short sugar stuff I was eating. That hasn't happened in months. :P

I did manage to get to the gym on saturday, though. So there is that. My body is definitely different from the last time I did this; there is a lot more muscle.

I'm back on my eating plan today. Eggs and vegetarian sausage for breakfast. There will be chicken and salad for lunch. pumpkin seeds for snack and protein shake for dinner.

Thanks for letting me vent.

edit: Forgot to add the loaf of raisin bread I bought and enjoyed too. :D :P Most of it is in the freezer and I will not get it out for a while again, not least because I'm sensitive to wheat.

1. Just hop right back on
Don't make the mistake that a lot of people make when they fall off the wagon. They stay off of it. It was just a couple of days, no big deal.

Something like this happened to me when I quit smoking. I fell off the wagon after about a month and smoked 5 cigarettes one afternoon. I called my mom and told her what had happened. She said it was okay. Just throw the smokes away and get back to being a non-smoker. I did and I will be a non-smoker for a year come next month.

You have to look at this as a lifestyle change, but keep in mind that it's proabably not possible to be perfect. The program that I'm on allows for that and I can have one "fun and comfort" meal a week where I can eat anything I want. I haven't taken advantage of that yet, but I probably will at some point.

2. Don't beat yourself up, get back on your program.
Had been eating better and losing weight for 1 month, but last week broke down and had a beef rib platter, potato salad and Texas toast. So on my weigh-in today, only lost .4 pounds. Your falling off the wagon involves quinoa, mine involves fatty meats.

4. You just might find that this works well for ongoing weightloss.
The plan I am following most of the time allows an occasional weekend of free choice foods. At first you have the urge to stuff all the foods down that you loved but have proven to be unhealthy for you, like all the high carbs and sugars. But after a few months you realize you really don't want these foods anymore, and gravitate to healthier choices on your plan.
This to me is really learning to change lifetime (bad) eating habits.
Also knowing that you can have the occasional cheat weekend allows you to feel that you have the freedom to enjoy these foods again if you really want to!
One more factor is that this might shake up your metabolism again, as explained in some of the calorie/carb/fats/protein shifting theories of weightloss.
I would just calmly return to your plan and feel good about your free choice weekend! You certainly learned something from it - how certain foods clearly affect you!

:hi:
