My waist is down
Edited on Thu Apr-16-09 11:36 AM by supernova
to a little less than 35 inches!!

Really on my way, now. According to the Real Age website BMI calculator, my waist should be somewhere between 27 - 32 inches, so I'm only a little off now. Hope to lose it over the summer.

I'm continuing to follow my meal plan: adequate protein, low GI veggies, rounded out with some low GI fruit and nuts. Also adequate fluid intake, mostly water and unsweetened tea. I allow myself a "cheat" once a week because I'm dating and going to restaurants. That means I can still have a serving of bread --who can pass up freshly made bread or dessert? But during the week, no dairy and no wheat or other grains.

Continuing to follow my workout plan: 4x/week, 2 of those times devoted to strength-training. Lots of cardio the other two days. In the summer, I want to go on weekend hikes. I'll see.

I'm trying not to think about when all this will plateau. You know, the day when all the things you're doing no longer work, you stay the same weight, which is way higher than your goal weight? I hope it won't; but for now, I'm really enjoying getting smaller. When I sit in my car now, I marvel than my stomach is starting to look scooped out. :loveya:

1. It's a great feeling
I had been in a horrific stall for a few months. The dietitian suggested I increase my calories a bit and I'm down three pounds this week. It looks like 1400-1600 calories is where I need to be with my activity rate to lose about 2 lbs a week. You and I do a very similar plan. I do do yogurt though...the milk sugar there doesn't seem to slow me down. I've added more protein and low carb tortillas.

And you are right....You gotta drink!!!!

2. Thanks empress!
:D

*bows* :D

Eating frequently really helps too. Apparently, I have to put something in my stomach about every three hours or so.

3. Since September I also have lost almost 40 pounds!
It is going slowly but surely for me - the first time in oh so many years that I've been able to sustain healthier eating which allows me to lose weight without having to feel hungry.
I follow a very similar eating program as you do, supernova, and am starting to really enjoy feeling lighter.
My children are happy for me and praise me every time they see me.
Still a big chunk to go, but this was the most difficult - finding the eating pattern best for me at this time in my life.

I eat low carb generally but with lots of low GI veggies and some fruits a few times a week.
I allow myself a free choice weekend every 2 weeks, so I don't have to feel I am "deprived" of favorite carb foods "forever"! :-)

I've also taken a few pauses around holidays without any damage to my progress, so I am really pleased.

Congratulations, supernova, and enjoy those "little" things which can mean so much for those of us struggling for quite some years with weight problems.
