The possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned has brought the self-pitying, self-described 'nice guy' misogynists out of the woodwork.

Do you think this is a coincidence?

1. Nope.

I think there are quite a few "progressive" men who think we are too uppity(the term I usually hear) and don't mind rubbing our noses in it. I guess I can check them off my list as people to enlist for help fighting this or as people I want to know. I do think we are also getting a very good idea of who will be willing to go to battle with us. I seem to recall one DU male, ZombyWoof to be specific(:loveya:Zomby), who has come back into fighting mode because of this. There are more, men I am less familiar with who are with us.

I don't like being teased when I am down so I do not take it as a tease. I can take only some of it normally, as long as it stays just a friendly tease. This thread may have been originally meant to make fun of themselves but it is interesting to see how quickly it turned into misogyny.

I lurk there mostly, occasionally post there. It helps to know people when you read their thoughts everywhere so I do poke around there most every day. I was sickened by it. It really hurts sometimes to see that some of my "friends" can really be sexist pigs.

4. The timing is very suspect, I'll agree. The past couple of days

here have been awful - misogyny, kicking us when we're down, and then last night, I see this thread title:

That's when I had to shut the computer off and get away from this. I've read the thread, and I understand that the OP was trying to point out the bad things about this game. But it was like a kick in the gut - after everything we've had to put up with here, a thread like this gets posted? So many of us are feeling pretty threatened right now, and a thread title about whether beating and murdering a prostitute is misogynistic gets posted? Pretty insensitive, frankly. I didn't comment in the thread, I didn't even alert on it - I was just too weary to deal with it.

I'm pretty tired of all this shit right now.

Nor are all the threads telling us "uppity women" to sit down, give up our rights and stfu so "we" can win the midterms.

It's an old strategy; sacrifice the least powerful for the needs of the powerful and while doing so, claim some "legitimacy" for the powerful by jettisoning those who "embarrass" "us."

Wow, I just realized as I typed this, that makes us the cannon fodder for the progessive movement.

I'm so tired of those supposedly on our side bashing women every chance they get. It's not a coincidence, at all. These past few days have been dreadful on DU. I do notice those who psot in support. I also appreciate Skinner choosing oppposing the Roberts nomination for the DU activist corps. Many of the links were to feminist organizations. I also think we need to write and call our Senators with our own wording.
