I almost had an aneurysm last night--
I started reading cunt: a declaration of independence (by Inga Muscio) and I am completely blown away.

I ended up lying awake in bed reading until 3 am because I was so engrossed. My favorite bits so far:

p. 63: "Men who refuse to use condoms do not deserve to be fucked by anyone but other men who refuse to use condoms." (I laughed so loud when I read this, I was afraid I might wake up my daughter, lol.)

p. 81: "Mary Magdalene was a Whore and Jesus dug her because she taught him the most sacred thing a man can ever hope to learn in his lifetime: how to fuck. Stud that he was, Jesus knew to humble himself to this woman."

and the very best thus far (from page 29):

Why are words like "hygiene" and "sanitary"--which imply that a woman's cunt is unclean--acceptable in our society? Why are these people trying to sell me feminine deodorant spray? That's like hawking floral air freshener to a lady who lives in a rose garden.

Also, excuse me, but what's so clean about dicks?

One never hears of sanitary jock straps, deodorant condoms, perfumed Hershey-Squirt protection pads or hygienic ball wipes, whereas I've heard tell of need for such products.

All I can say is, I have never felt so empowered in my life as I have in the past 12 hours while reading this book.

5. do it! best book i have ever bought--
i read a bunch of reviews before buying it and i was a little worried, because a lot of women who had read it said they liked it, but thought she was a little nuts--i think she is just honest and completely in touch with her body and her mind.

i am still reading, but i already suggest picking up a copy asap!!!

6. I am immediately going to start investigating the development
of hygienic ball wipes! I am already working on advertising: 'Men, do you wonder why women don't want to have further intimacy with you? You get sex once and that's it. Have you wondered what is wrong with you? We know what's wrong. That's right. You could have women knocking down your door if you knew what we knew. Here is the answer....you need the ultimate sexual turn-on....the macho, earthy, manly, Ball-Brandies (trademarked)....that's right. Just wipe your balls with 'Ball-Brandies' and your testicles will attract women from miles around....!'

OK...you get the picture....lol! Oh this is fun.

7. Hygienic ball wipes!

That makes me think of "Ass Don't Smell", a fictional product in a faux commercial on SNL. Plenty of guys I've encountered could use that too. x(

Muscio's book sounds very enlightening. I'm going to have to see if I can get a copy on E-bay or some other site. I'm quite sure my library is not going to have it.

9. " Also, excuse me, but what's so clean about dicks?"
No shit, Sherlock, as any nurse who has worked with uncut, elderly male patients can tell you. Cleaning that thing becomes a very low priority to a male with failing eyesight and poor manual dexterity and PHEW!

It's almost enough to make you cry for mandatory circumcision. Almost.

By the way, Magdalene was NEVER identified as "the woman taken in sin." It's an ASSumption made by thousands of years of church MEN who refused to acknowledge her role as one of the disciples and possibly more. One of the Gnostic gospels is reputed to be her gospel, touchingly written as though by someone who learned to write late in life. It reminds me of letters written by my great grandmother.

10. In the book...
Muscio is very much in awe of Mary Magdalene and "Whores" in general--there is an entire chapter entitled "Whores."

I've heard that about her Gospel--would be interesting to read.

11. I found it online a couple of years ago
but didn't keep the link.

Google "Gnostic Gospel Magdalene" and that might turn it up.

14. They don't have to be uncut
I worked in a nursing home for many years. We had double bed rooms. If incontinence or draining infections of any type was not a factor, you could walk in and smell male crotch. Stong stuff. Females, on the other hand given the same set of circumstances, DID not smell, oh, you could assist them with what we call "pericare" (crotch cleaning) and get o' whiff of odor, but again, given the lack of infection, it wasn't unpleasant, and it certaintly didn't stink up a room.

When I was a little girl, my Grandmother-- who was a nurse-- told me that men didn't wash "their private parts"--, when she instructed me on how to properly clean myself after going to the bathroom (front to back)

I agree with that on Mary Magdeline, as well as certain opinions that the "Holy Spirit" was the female aspect of the trinity.

Gnostic Christianity is a trip. I've read a bit about it.
