In November last year, I applied for a full-time job at my workplace.
I have been at my workplace foryears, as a part-time worker.

Now, I was qualified for this position…familiar with the workplace and the people, and one of the people on the interview committee has a good opinion of me and my work.

However, I didn’t get it. The person who got it, I found later, was another part-time worker. She hasn’t been here as long as me but worked in the same area where the opening was.

I wasn’t too surprised; the vast majority of the time when a full-time position opening is posted here, they’ve already decided who they’re going to hire—often an internal candidate.

One thing I’m glad of, they didn’t call me for an interview. If there’s one thing that really bugs me, it’s when an employer interviews me—and they have no intention of even giving me serious consideration for the job.
