people. What can be done to be more of a positive impact?

I never want to see another Bush in office - where war seems to be the thing to do.

How can we create a healthier, more tolerant mind set in America? In the process, make those who

support Bushism be in the very small minority?

Comunique tanto como sea posible!

2. Well, since I can't vote in American elections, I'll have to do something
else. I certainly vote for the progressives where I live.

4. Ain't that the truth!
I work with people who never shirk their sacred duty to vote for the next American Idol but who can't name either of my fine state's Senators. I couldn't care less about that show, but if people enjoy it, then by all means they should watch it.

But for pity's sake, please take in interest in the health of the nation!

I can't even count the number of people I know who can't articulate why they voted for Bush, other than because he was the Repub candidate. An ignorant citizenry is a victimized citizenry!

3. That's how many people have ever registered, I think.
Not how many people are actively here. (I could be wrong, but I think that's what that number represents.)

It would be very nice if we had that many active members, but can you imagine the volume of posts there would be on each board?
:wow:

6.  I am not an active member. Being active to me..

means going on marches, making signs, calling people etc. It is rather impractical for me.

If a few of us could really get the ball rolling. People power. Most governments are destructive.

For example: What if we could encourage soldiers not to fight in Iran?

What if we could provide jobs for those who refuse to fight?

What if we could convince reporters to be real reporters and pay them enough so they live on that?

Saros should think of using some of his money in a different ways to become more effective.

8. Active = read and post.
This is what I meant by active. There are people who create accounts, are here for a while, and then leave.

I think even tombstoned people may be included in that number.

5. 90,000 people who have registered
You might double or triple that to find out the number of people who lurk and read but aren't interested in posting.

What we're doing here, sharing information and discussing possible strategies, is important enough, but most of the people who are registered, who post, and many who lurk are also spreading this stuff around to friends, family, coworkers, and anybody they come into contact with.

And this is how revolutions start. Let's hope we can keep it a peaceful one.

9. We do what we can...
My wife and I have been in our democrat club for a while, and hear me out...

Most of the other dems in our club, are old, very old...65+, and in truth, they can give two cents of a rats ass about gay marriage, or abortion persay. Alot of the social issues, that are on this board, our dem's in sw missouri don't care about. But, they do care about the main social/health issues, universal health care, Social Security, prescription drug plan...

So, its hard to gain any support for gay issues/abortion, but in truth, their demeanor about it is good to an extent, because they don't care, meaning, they don't care, if gays get married, its their business, not theirs, and they dont' care aobut abortion, because they believe its up to the man/woman, or whomever is involved, but getting them fired up to support those issues, is very difficult.

The issues, which make people fired up, are Iraq, economic, and taxes, gas prices. Our dems hate Bush because of his economic choices, his ludicrous tax breaks to the wealthy, and the cronism, and outrageous gas prices. These themes, are what my wife and I use, while talking to people who don't vote, or who vote RW, we try to talk some sense into them. And there are a lot of examples of Bush saying one thing, and doing something completely opposite. It effects the truer fiscal conservative rw voters, because of our HUGE debt, and creatign more red tape government(DHS)....

So, what im' really trying to say is this: DU, fills my wife, and I with hope, it fills us with new insight, and thoughts, and new news, and other trains of thinking. It is rough, working through grass roots campaigns, and this place, energizes us....its like, a...Sauna of Hope...:)

10. not nearly as powerful as you think.
120,000,000 people voted in 2004.

Let's pretend all 90,000 registered DUers are legit...no freeps, no dupes.

We make up .075% of the electorate.

Perspective.
