Bush says best moment as President was "catching a fish in my lake"
He really is the worst president ever. :dunce:

"You know, I've experienced many great moments and it's hard to name the best," Bush told weekly Bild am Sonntag when asked about his high point since becoming president in January 2001.

"I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound (3.402 kilos) perch in my lake," he told the newspaper in an interview published on Sunday.

But the greatest moment as President was catching a fish.

26. Bet you that the perch part was a problem with translation.
From English to German and back to English.

He has a bass pond which I am sure is managed so as to make his fishing time kinda
like Dick Cheney's canned bird hunts ..... shooting fish in a barrel.

I no longer can be stunned by the utter lack of class by this figure head who pretends
that he is running things.

112. Just posted on this concerning the translation.
The German article uses the word "Barsch," which is translated in my Langenscheidt's German-English dictionary as "perch." However, I did a little further checking online and found that both "bass" and "perch" are rendered as "Barsch," so you may be right.

31. There's no telling what he means. I will say that, technically,
what are called "bass" in Texas are actually perch. The largemouth is a perch and "bass" are salt water species. The striped bass is a saltwater species that is introduced into freshwater lakes. Maybe somebody told him about the "bass" was really a perch and he is using that term to confuse everybody. That's what he does best.

A 7.5 pound bluegill, or whatever, would be really big for a "perch" and might even be a record. Will the media investigate and get the "truth" on this one?

Not the prescription drug bill?

Not being re-elected?

No, it was catching a perch nearly twice as heavy as any perch heretofore known to science.

OK, so the first 5 were fake events that didn't really happen like he presents them. Couldn't he at least be *honest* about the size or type of the fish? Or just say "a 7 pound fish"? There are 7 pound fish out there, just not perches. I would have believed him if he said a 7 pound fish. But it's like the man is incapable of telling the truth. It freaks me out.

If you go to the International Game Fish Association you can look at the statistics for existing and pending world record fish. The database is usually closed to the public but not right now for whatever reason. You can look it up.

I did.

Of all species of perch that might be found in a Texas lake (outside of California where there are some odd species) for which a record is kept the very heaviest ever caught is a 4 pound 3 ounce (1.91 kg) Yellow Perch caught by a Dr. C. Abbot in May of 1985 in Bordentown, NJ. The number two Perch is a white one met its end on July 4, 1984 when a Mr. Ray Johnson yanked it out of the Yuba Reservoir at Fayette Utah, at a grand total weight of 2 pounds 11 ounces (0.9 kg).

If George is telling us he caught one twice the size of the world record it is a lie.

For those of you not from the south... many fisher-persons (*wink) down here use perch as trot-line bait for the much larger and tastier catfish (generally the yellows or blues).

Maybe this is why he never caught Osama... all he knows how to catch is the #3 guy (or bait).

51. Texas record fish
I know different states have different names for fish. But...the record in Texas for Nile Perch is 12lbs 1oz. This is not a native species but is originally from Africa.
http://www.landbigfish.com/staterecords/records.cfm?state=Texas

"Darwin's Nightmare" focuses on Tanzania. The director of the film, Hubert Sauper, paints a grim picture of a country that processes and exports tons of nile perch flesh to wealthy countries while native Tanzanians teeter on the edge of famine. The planes that take away the perch for sale and consumption arrive with guns and ammunition that will make their way to the wars in surrounding African countries.
http://invasivespecies.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_invasivespecies_archive.html

This species has been nominated as among 100 of the "World's Worst" invaders.
http://www.issg.org/database/species/ecology.asp?si=89&fr=1&sts=

My question is why does he have this species of fish in "HIS" lake and how did he get them?

Taking a page out of the RNC bullshit the masses playbook, some say that it would be better if Bush caught Osama rather than a fish. Bass, perch, or mermaid, this jackass gets asked about the greatest moment of his presidency and he tells us a story about a fish? Is fishing part of the job description for president? What's next? Is Crashcart going to announce that the greatest moment of his tenure was shooting a guy in the face? This is beyond stupid. This guy is out-to-lunch. It's like he's had a lobotomy or something. Suppose that was only the number 3, or number 2 fish, in that enchanted pond of "His'n"? There might be a freakin' HUGH perch out there, that is just lurking and waiting! America could be in imminent danger and we need to preemptively drain that lake of his, before that fish takes out everybody that's large enough to die, in Umerikka. The Texas Chainsaw might not even stop that thang!

104. This must be a Nile Perch
The Nile perch can reach 200 Kg (440 pounds!!) and over six feet in length. It has been introduced into Texas.

From the "Invasive Species Weblog:"

Geographical range
Native range: Native to the Nile system, Lake Mariout, and most major West African river systems, from the Senegal to the Cross; also present in the Zaire system and lakes Albert, Turkana and several lakes in the Ethiopian highlands. Introduced in Lakes Kyoga, Nabugabo and Victoria in East Africa. Occuring in all depth zones; less abundant in littoral rocky habitats and oxygen-poor conditions. Also reported to be introduced from Sudan to Congo and from Ethiopia to Cuba and possibly established in the wild; also from Mali to Morocco and from Africa to Texas (USA), both apparently without establishing populations in the wild.

Texas (USA): as in "his" lake.

So, if Bush-lite is going on about catching a 7.5 pound version of an imported fish than can grow to be 400 pounds, I'd say he has just about the same
outlook on the achievments of his fishing as we do on the achievements of his undeserved term in office. No wonder he thinks he's never made a mistake.

114. "Bild am Sonntag" is the worst tabloid we have here in Germany...
so I guess it wasn't really a 7.5 pound perch Little Lord Pissypants caught in his lake, but a 7.5 gram guppy.

during his elective, unjustified, illegal war in Iraq?

I thought it was reported he was jumping up and down with joy as the war was getting underway.

118. I thought it was when a rainbow appeared and communicated with him
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/07/20040721-10.html

Here are portions of two of Bush's speeches from the White House website. Bush talks about the "rainbow speech" he gave in Romania when a rainbow suddenly appeared over his head and he said it was a "message" to him. He called it a "vision" and twice he called it a "powerful message" being sent to him by nature, which he then interpreted as God's smile and he then told the people of Romania what God was doing through that rainbow. He also said it was "one of the most moving experiences" of his entire Presidency:

"PRESIDENT BUSH: Well, I think one thing -- I'll never forget my trip to Bucharest -- it was the rainbow speech. (Laughter.) It was a mystical experience for me. It was one of the most amazing moments of my presidency, to be speaking in the square, the very square where Ceausescu gave his last speech. And the rainbow that I saw in the midst of the rainstorm ended right behind the balcony from my point of view. It's a clear signal that, as far as I was concerned, that freedom is powerful and -- ..."

"You know, I'll never forget my trip to Bucharest at the rainbow speech. It was one of the most moving experiences of my Presidency. And the reason why was that the rainbow, itself, that appeared in the midst of a rainstorm in front of 200-plus-thousand people ended right behind -- from my vision, ended right behind the place where the tyrant, Ceausescu, gave his last speech. It was -- it was a very powerful message. It moved me deeply during the moment.

And it still moves me to think that there was a powerful message being delivered by nature, to the point where I remember turning back to the people of Romania and said, "God is smiling on Bucharest." And I meant that. ..."

122. At first I thought you were joking ...
but then I saw the link to whitehouse.gov ... Wow, u-n-b-e-l-i-e-v-a-b-l-e what a crackpot Shrub is! That rainbow remark alone should be sufficient enough to call in the doctors and declare him unfit for office.

I mean, can there be any doubt at all he's able to blow the planet up? It just needs a bad day on which his brain chemistry makes him see or hear things that aren't there!

Help! This is madness!

It's the only thing he ever accomplished on his own. Or at least until we find out that some operatives with scuba gear put the fish on the line.

The rest of you folks can spend time worrying about the Iraq War or gasoline prices or warrantless wiretaps. I`m going to make a shrine in my living room....green velvet, soft lighting, and a wooden ruler highlighted at the 7.5 inch mark. This is beyond glorious. Our president caught a fish. In his own lake. The best moment of his presidency. God Bless America.

136. B Calm
Greetings from Dallas via Germany.

There is a fish sold in fish stores called "Viktoriabarsch," which is probably the same thing.
It's a popular filet here in Germany. The only thing is, when the Hutus and Tutsis were slaughtering
each other ten years ago, they dumped half the bodies into Lake Victoria. Nice fish food, especially
for a 400 pound predator fish.

Needless to say, my wife and I have not eaten any filet of Viktoriabarsch since.
The very thought of what they might have been feeding on was enough!!

As for Bush, if the best moment of his presidency was when he caught the fish, I'll agree that it
was the best moment for America and the world, as he wasn't out doing anything destructive, but
it's not a stretch to imagine that he didn't see it that way. To Bush that really WAS the highlight
of his presidency. Not one thing he did in the line of his presidential duties can match up to that
moment for him. Well, maybe except for that photo op in Iraq in 2003 when he posed with that plastic
Thanksgiving turkey. Very appropriate, tho--a plastic turkey being carried around by the real thing.

Wild Bear catch wild salmon in real wilderness

or

Fake President catches bass from his stocked bass pond (and guaranteed that pond is
managed for big bass production ....... In Ohio 50 % largemouth, 20% shiners, 20% bluegill, & 10%
channel catfish = big bass) on a fake photo op ranch that was built from 1998 to 2000 and was ready
when he got selected as president as our fake media feeds us b.s. about his country roots.

Catching that perch was almost surely the moment when he was doing the least harm to the country. Not what most people would call great, but in this case it will have to do.

carp and just gotten a wrong reading. I guess it could happen to any liar...errr...bullshitter...err...I mean...errrr...fisherman. Misleaders are often misreaders too! There is something fishy about everything he sez or does! The whole GOP is fishy!

I think it was one of those Enchanted fish like the kind that grants three or four wishes, if you agree to turn it loose. Or perhaps it was like the 67% of the obese American children they quit selling soda pop to at school. A big fat fish sounds about right, to tell a big obese lie about.
