5. Who the f*%^k cares what laura thinks, does or doesn't do?
If He hadn't had landed a killing blow, there would be no comment about Colbert still in the news.

7. I have one question about the fallout from Colbert's appearance.
Exactly who booked him for this gig? Had they never seen his show? (Okay, that's two questions.) Obviously, some people just can't handle the truthiness!

12. I think they were trying to defuse Colbert.
By inviting him there, making him "one of them," putting him in a position where they thought he'd HAVE to make softball jokes, some of his power would be diminished. They probably NEVER thought he had balls of purest teflon, and that he could stand right there in front of those people and tell them exactly what he thinks.

:wow:

8. But...but...but...Bob said at the end, this WHC dinner shouldn't happen
at all, because Democracy needs a critical press, so why are these press people sitting down elbow-to-elbow at a dinner with the people they're supposed to be investigating and writing about?

I was unhappy with the review too of Colbert too, until Bob said, "Democracy needs a watchdog press, not a Friars Club."

11. And he's right...
...I see this all the time. Some enter journalism for the right reasons and get seduced by the possiblity of fame. Others enter it with the intention of fame foremost in their mind.

At any rate, they're not using their cynicism like they should to ward off the whiff of power and celebrity.

9. Did they think that Imus was funny?
This is the chance that organizations take when they hire "comedy" for an event.. They either go for a lame comic that NO ONE thinks is funny, or they go for cutting edge humor and know that half will like it and the other half won;t get it..and in the case of this admin, the third half will be furious

14. Hell yeah they were laughing
they all thought that was hysterical.... I guess to them, the truth isn't as funny as Bush's deadly lies...
