CNN's Glenn Beck acknowledged being a "recovering scumbag"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200605080010

Summary: During an interview on CNN Headline News' Nancy Grace, right-wing radio host and new Headline News hire Glenn Beck said of himself, "I like to say I'm a work in progress, a recovering scumbag."

During an interview on the May 5 edition of CNN Headline News' Nancy Grace, right-wing radio host and new Headline News hire Glenn Beck said of himself, "I like to say I'm a work in progress, a recovering scumbag."

Later in the interview, host Nancy Grace asked Beck about a benefit he had held for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Beck explained that he had raised money for those survivors "who were trying to be decent people and get back on their feet" -- not those who "were stealing televisions and shooting at helicopters."

But Grace neglected to question Beck about the comments he made during the September 9, 2005, edition of his radio show, which was broadcast from the fundraiser near Philadelphia. As Media Matters for America documented, Beck attacked the "scumbags" who "were left in New Orleans, or who decided to stay" after Hurricane Katrina. He likened those left in New Orleans after Katrina to 9-11 victims' families, who are "always complaining" and whom he admitted to "hating."

1. Sorry, Glenn....
"Recovery" implies you're getting better, which you're not.

2. Beck has a long way to go before he can drop the scumbag
description. I just don't see the attraction of this man. He is a Rush Limpballs wannabe, only not that good. I can't listen to his radio program for longer than 30 seconds, the way he treats some people is just awful. He seems like he must be a real piece of work in real life.

This is just another reason to not watch CNN. And they wonder why their ratings are dropping...hmmm...

4. CNN has ZERO respect in my book.
Will "You could abort all the black babies and crime rate would go down" Bennet, and now Glenn "I hate the 9/11 families" Beck.

Fuck CNN.

5. Bad diagnosis, Glenn.
It's a chronic and terminal case, I'm afraid.

6. ....But Glenn...you scumbag, you...the ORIGIN of the word refers to...
...an item which has outlived its usefulness...an item that is spent, an item that is now ready to be discarded.

So, Glenn, you're right...you used to be a scumbag, and by default, you are the past, present, and future scumbag.

Deal with it.

8. I think I've figured out what CNN is doing.
They are quietly transforming their CNN Headline News channel into a more conservative alternative to CNN, and are using it to directly challenge Fox News.

It would be too obvious if they yanked regular CNN to the far right, and they would probably take a lot of heat for it. (Yes, CNN has moved significantly to the right, but not nearly as far as Fox.) So instead they have chosen to use Headline News as their vessel for the hard right-wing move.

There was a time when Headline News only ran news headlines, 24 hours a day. If you spent 30 minutes there, any time day or night, you could pick up all the big stories. How long do you think it will be until Healine News no longer has any news headlines?
