This is unbelievable. Treason of the highest order! I can't believe I voted for this president... twice! I had no idea that Bush would not only ignore the border situation completely, but to actively work against LEGAL citizens of this country who are LEGALLY protecting our borders and people of this country. All for what?! Cheap labor and votes? Good lord... I thought it couldn't get any worse than Clinton! If I never hear of the name Bush again, it'll be too soon.

8. So who are the freeps?

They are the people who were either in, or hanging around the militia movement or The John Birch Society back in the 80s and 90s. They were courted by the repukes because they knew they would be good little mindless and unquestioning footsoldiers for them.

I know it might seem a stretch, but it isn't. Read the rhetoric of the Birchies and the militias from back in that time. hell, read the rhetoric of the National Alliance and Christian Identity while you are at it. Find out especially about Identity, which has its provenance in the western states, although its not, by far, exclusive to those states. There is a reason that Lil' Jimmy Dobson is headquartered in Colorodo Springs and it ain't the taxes or the climate: Christian Identity was very well represented in Colorodo, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho and the other western states. Wide open spaces attract those people. That and getting away from Black people. Especially getting away from black folks in major urban centers.

The repukes chose a strategy of bring into their fold the most radical and frothing of the farthest reaches of the right. The most virulent strains. The freepers are simply the public face and truly, are quite mild in comparison to some of them.
