Concerned Women tell Senate not to grandstand stemcell; Bush will veto!

WASHINGTON, May 10 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) urges U.S. Senators to stop wasting time on a futile bill, The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005 (S. 471).

The legislation would squander taxpayer dollars by funding destructive embryonic stem cell research, an immoral practice that has produced no results that would benefit patients. Congress has committed this week as “Health Week” in an effort to focus on health care policy issues and some senators are expected to use it as a platform to promote destructive embryonic stem cell research.

“This legislation is a waste of time meant only to grandstand a bill that won’t become law,” said Wendy Wright, CWA’s President. “President Bush has already promised to veto this bill and there are not enough votes in the House to override his decision. There are a lot of pending bills and nominations but little time left in this session. Senators should use the rest of their time wisely by focusing on legislation that will produce results that are good for Americans.

“Embryonic stem cell research is unethical! It treats a class of humans as purely research material. The destruction of human embryos is morally repugnant. Congress should use this ‘Health Week’ to focus on legislation that will enhance not destroy human lives. There is only one guarantee of what embryonic stem cell research will produce, and that is dead human embryos.

“CWA will continue to combat attempts to use our tax dollars for this highly unethical research. The blatant disregard for human life is unacceptable and the government funding should not be tolerated.”

3. Ah, the Concerned Women....
Their illustrious beginning:

Beverly LaHaye watched a television interview of Betty Friedan, founder of the National Organization for Women. Realizing that Friedan claimed to speak for the women of America, Beverly LaHaye was stirred to action. She knew the feminists' anti-God, anti-family rhetoric did not represent her beliefs, nor those of the vast majority of women.

The first meeting to educate and alert Christian women on the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), led by Beverly LaHaye, occurred in San Diego, California. More than 1,200 attended. This was the springboard to beginning Concerned Women for America as a national organization.

Bev met Tim LaHaye at Bob Jones U. He's famous for the "Left Behind" books & his involvement in the Religious Right. Learn more about him here: www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/5939999/reverend_doomsday?rnd=1145452206906&has-player=true&version=6.0.8.1024

Tim's seriously anti-Catholic but that's soft-pedaled at the CWFA site. Common views on Abortion & Gay Rights have created a temporary alliance on those issues.

Check out the site if you want to know the next hot topic parroted on Fox News. They did "War Against Christmas" years ago!
