The new issue on the William Jefferson story.
Turns out FbI infinged upon seperation of powers when they got a warrant to search Jefferson's offices on the hill.

Hastert is pissed and they have launched an ethics investigation.

Suddenly the story in not about a crook it's about an overreaching Justice Department.

"Nothing I have learned in the last 48 hours leads me to believe that there was any necessity to change the precedent established over those 219 years," Hastert, an Illinois Republican, said in a statement Monday.

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California said congressional independence from the executive branch protects Americans from abuses of power.

"Justice Department investigations must be conducted in accordance with Constitutional protections and historical precedent," she said.

1. Bwaahaahaa!
I love it! Turnabout is fair play. Nice to see some Dems stepping up to the plate to redefine the story's focus.
:applause:

2. Brings back the Spectre of a Unitary execituve.
I don't have much use for Jefferson Democrat or not....He deserves what he gets and we would make a mistake if we use this to defend him. But this is about the Unitary executive thinking it more powerful (Constitutionally) than either Congress or the Courts (FISA)
