Marine General: some Marines could become "indifferent to the loss of life
5/25/2006 - AP

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The top Marine general said Thursday that he feared, based on two recent cases of alleged killings of civilians in Iraq, that some Marines could become "indifferent to the loss of a human life." His office announced that he was enroute to Iraq to reinforce the Corps' standards of behavior in combat.

That's what happens when you wage a war, genius.

In other news, some Iraqis don't like getting shot at. What a surprise!

4. Well, yeah...
when it's your job to kill people for living, and people are trying to kill you every day, that could tend to happen...mind like a steal trap that one.

7. ...and, as a paranoic, "tin foil hat"-wearing individual might say...
this is exactly why we have so many NG troops (versus "regular" armed services) over there for so long, under such (intentionally?) miserable conditions: to get them fully desensitized to civilian/urban/"non-uniformed enemies" battle zones before bringing them home to quell any uprisings or discontent here.

I'm just sayin' that's what I, um, I mean, such a person, might have been thinking for some time now (wry grin)
