Where there is smoke there is usually fire. I would venture a guess that many more reports filed have been false as well. Maybe someone should go over a few more reports for inconsistancies as well. I remember how blatant this was in Vietnam...

1. I don't know
I do think Haditha could turn out to be a flashpoint - but if this sort of action is common, well, it might take a while for all the facts to come out.

2. One big massive cover-up could be going on, but this time they
got caught. I'm hoping incidents like this might end this idiotic war faster.

4. Check the history of propaganda wars between the Israelis and
the Palestinians.

Israel has spun such massacres of Palestinians and I would venture to be that the spin will take elements from that:

They are all terrorists, harboring terrorists, etc., etc., etc., They want to push the Americans into the sea. Those kids parents teach them to kill Americans. Details will start to come out about what some male Iraqi did that made it look like the Americans had to do this in self defense. The pundits will start referring to it as an act of self defense.

5. We're always hearing about X number of insurgents or Baathists
killed, but no indication of how they were identified.

6. I have no doubt that is only a small sample of what is really going on
The government has done an excellent job of censoring news stories in this war, more so than in any other war.

But now that the tide is turning against the government, even from within the military, I suspect more of this will be coming out in the future.

7. I wonder what did the other 30,000 Iraqis Bush admitted killing die of?

We need a full accounting of all these deaths. Not just 24.

9. I think our accounting system is totally broken for the Pentagon
Not only financially but morally as well. I remember reading a while back the Pentagon can not account for a trillion dollars. They also can not account for thousands of dead people I am sure.
