Some questions for my Republican Congressman
Dear Congressman Westmoreland,

First off, I’d like to send my sympathies to you and your compatriots over the departure Tom. Delay. I’m sure he’ll be missed, as he truly was the conscience of the conservative revolution. Talk about squandered genius.
Anyway, the reason I’m writing is to alert you to some inconsistencies I’ve observed with the Bush administration and the Christian conservative movement as a whole. While reading your Bio on your website I noticed that you attend church so I’m assuming you’re a Christian. So maybe you can answer some questions I have since I’m not a Christian and I’m a bit confused. Indeed, you can consider me a godless ape—I do, and so would Ann Coulter. I have however learned a little bit about Jesus and some of the things he said and stood for:
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.”
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.”
Does this sound familiar to you? Jesus sounds like a pretty decent guy, but he doesn’t sound all that much like a Republican.
President Bush once said that Jesus was his favorite philosopher. Do you believe this to be true?
Was Jesus a warmongering, homophobe with a soft spot in his heart for the rich? Would Jesus axe the estate tax?
If Jesus sat in the White House would he have chosen war in Iraq? Don’t get me wrong here, I’m not a pacifist so I understand that sometimes war is necessary, but was that the case in Iraq?
I have another question, however this one deals not with religion but with the apparent lack of rational in the Presidents policy in Iraq.
Since his course of action in Iraq is such a disaster, why does he choose to, “stay the course”? Let’s put it this way; let’s say you where driving from Atlanta to Orlando and you took a wrong turn and started heading North on I 75 instead of South; would you stay the course? Certainly not, especially if you where killing a lot of people, leaving a trail of bodies from Georgia to Ohio in the process. I’m in no doubt you would turn around, get a cup of coffee, and regroup.
So maybe you can get the President and the rest of the Republicans to regroup before things get any worse.

Sincerely…
