2. It looks like Particpant Productions is holding the auctions...
Participant is the same production company responsible for Syriana and Good Night and Good Luck, as well as An Inconvenient Truth.

They smacked a freeper on one of their auctions:

Scroll down to the Q&A...

Q: ..like dude, how many trees had to die to produce this book Mr. Gore has autographed? Kinda hypocritical isn't it...

A: Actually, this book was published using recycled materials and green energy. It is printed on Appleton Green Power Utopia 80# matte. The paper is made of 30% postconsumer waste. The virgin fibers are grown under a certified forestry management system. The pulp is produced chlorine-free using 100% green power. This is the first book produced to offset 100% of the CO2 emissions generated from production activites with renewable energy. By supporting a new Native American wind farm and a new family farm methane energy project through NativeEnergy, this publication is carbon neutral. For more information, and to offset your own carbon footprint, visit www.nativeenergy.com.
