Canadian Terrorism Suspects Got Their Guns in Ohio
There are some serious allegations of a terrorism plot coming out of Canada. And if what authorities are saying is true, it would all have started with two men smuggling guns out of the United States.

Border guards in August caught two Muslim men trying to cross the Peace Bridge from Buffalo, N.Y., with the guns - two loaded .38s and a 9 mm - duct-taped to their bodies.

Officials at first thought they had cracked a routine gun-running scheme: smugglers buying cheap weapons in the United States to sell on the black market in Canada.

But when they discovered who had rented the white Buick the smugglers were driving - a radical young Muslim from suburban Toronto - they suspected something more sinister, Toronto’s Globe and Mail reported.

1. I knew it! The US is a terrorist haven
Now they're exporting their terrorisming to our country.

WE should build a big jeezly fence or something. And I'll gather a force of like-minded patriots to guard our borders.

We'll call ourselves "The Laura Secords".

4. I knew I could count on you
It's a big sacrifice, but one must do what one can.

Hey, don't bogart those chocolate mint bars!

6. So when are they going to Shock and Awe Cleveland?

(No offense to Ohioans - just pointing out the ridiculousness of going to war against a country with far fewer ties to 9/11 than this allegedly has to the Canadian "threat.")

2. Those Americans will sell guns to just anybody.
They have no respect for human life.

5. Well, fucking DUH
As a law-abiding US citizen, I can buy as many guns as I want
on the legal market. Not that I would, I have my 9mm defense
arm,and that's all I want, but I could.

HOWEVER-If I weren't so law-abiding, nor a citizen, it's
be FAR to easy to buy ANY firearm here in the USA. I don't
have any contacts, connections, or whatever you want to call
them, but I could make a few phone calls and, voila, a full-
auto AK-47 would suddenly appear(with the appropriate $$ tendered).

My point is, if lil ole me can procure any firearm, a "bad guy"
with connections can do so even easier and more quickly.

Welcome to the Future, my friends.

:scared:

8. I can't tell you how different we are here
The only handguns I've ever seen are on the belts of police officers. And I haven't exactly led a sheltered life here in Canada.

It seems like we have a very different culture. Even liberals there brag about their handguns. Some even voice their reasons for loving them. Protection, and all that.

But your world is immersed, saturated in guns. I doubt the founding fathers would approve of this passion for firearms, Second Amendment or not. I don't think this is what they had in mind.

But, nobody on the left or right complains much about the high murder rate from handguns. It's just an accepted fact.

We just don't accept that dangerous weapons should be so available, so accesible.

Sorry for the rant, but we live in two worlds where firepower is concerned.

11. Considering that AK-47's are as illegal here as they are in Canada...
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 04:24 PM by benEzra
I think that says more about the efficacy of prohibition than it does about U.S. gun laws. All automatic weapons have been VERY strictly controlled in the USA since 1934, and Canada's automatic-weapons law was IIRC modeled on ours.

Canada has a rather high rate of civilian gun ownership, and until recently, your gun laws were rather similar to ours.

7. Keep your eyes on this one boys and girls...
It's more than a coincidence that these guys came out of Ohio and Ohio is the center of the 2004 election controversy.

12. Oh shit.. so Ohio is the new Florida?
Seems that Florida had so many sordid connections to underground things... and now it's Ohio. Why is that? What is it about stealing those states and the connection to terrorists, anthrax attacks, etc. Things that make you go.. hmmmmmmm..
