I am ashamed of what my country has become. This is not my America anymore.

Religious Leaders Urge U.S. to Ban Torture

By Alan Cooperman

Twenty-seven religious leaders, including megachurch pastor Rick Warren, Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel and Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick of Washington, have signed a statement urging the United States to "abolish torture now -- without exceptions."

1. Good!
I'll even spare some of the more extreme members of the Christian Right the snarky comment they are due.

Even they realize what kind of world Bush wants to set up.

2. It wouldn't matter even if the U.S. banned torture.
The person these religious leaders helped put in office will just use ANOTHER signing statement to make the bill whatever he wants it to be.

Note to religious leaders: Get your butts out of government business, and start preaching The Bible again! Hatred, discrimination, and being judgmental are not Christian values, nor are they family values, yet that's all we've been hearing from your ilk lately. Practice what you preach, God is watching you, too, and you are NOT above being judged by Him.
