The most important trend in American Politics.

The trend of the number of deaths of US soldiers per month is POSITIVE. This makes a lie out of any GOP Crime Syndicate claims of "Progress".

5. But that's not how BushCo measures progress
Death means nothing to them, only cash, and there's plenty to go around.

7. Not at all to defend *
But this graph is pretty misleading. The r-squared component of that trend line looks remarkably low (about 8% if my calculations are correct).

You can flame if you want, but this upward "trend" doesn't appear to be much of a trend at all.

9. I concur - there's no real trend there
For figures from March 03 to May 06 is an R2 of around .06 - that't doesn't indiciate much of a trend.

11. Emergency funding bills and 'how much longer can this go on ?'
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=2339776&mesg_id=2340051

As with Vietnam, the R's will demand a 'decent interval' but the funding will have to be cut. Permanent base funding needs to go first, since this is a major rationale for the insurgency to continue.
