Looking for Trolls? This company offers to rent some to you
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 10:05 PM by Robbien
Haven't you ever wondered about the persistence of some trolls here. Or wondered if a group of trolls were working DU on certain issues?

Well, this company is where you can go to get some trolls who will go out and
share the client’s views in order to reinforce those key messages on targeted blogs – and rebut misinformation when appropriate

Hey, and they are hiring! Want to be a troll?

1. They may have a hard time....
Online Communications Manager

NetVocates seeks a talented individual to coordinate online communications outreach efforts. The Online Communications Manager will build relationships with bloggers by serving as an information resource. In addition, when appropriate the individual will provide background materials and timely information to bloggers to help educate them about significant issues. A successful candidate will have experience in politics, public affairs, public relations, or a related field. Knowledge of blogs and other online media is helpful. Experience in pitching to online or traditional media is a plus. Excellent oral and written communications and teamwork skills are a must. College degree and 2-4 years experience required.

2. From what I've seen
Their clients are probably getting ripped off. If I hire a troll, I want one that can spell.

3. Are you sure they only hire conservatives?
Or could liberal groups do this, too?

Liberal trolls, what a concept!

4. My thought is
that most liberals are too honest to go trolling another person's ideals - it's like visiting FreeperLand and feeling dirty....

8. Since last weekend there has been over 625 new DU'ers
Lately, I have seen this trend of increased memberships. I don't know. I wish it means something positive but it seems kinda weird. Something is about to happen.

Homeland Security?

Frustrated Freepers lurking to see what the Democrats have in mind?

A way to divide DU? Divide and conquer tactics?

9. Yes, I believe so. These guys are serious
over at
http://www.cybersoc.com/2006/05/behind_netvocat.html

They found out that the guys behind this is from Townhall, the far RightWingNut portal full of liberal hatred. There is a discussion going on about this at the cybersoc link.

Don't be too cynical. Maybe they're new converts who are disillusioned about * and are moving away from the Evil Empire.

12. Or maybe they are just earning a paycheck
going around posting posts about being "reasonable" and telling people do not be cynical, trust them.

Just Townhall/Netvocates being helpful.

Where is this coming from? I'm not telling you to trust me; I'm saying that we shouldn't be quite so cynical.

Americans are seeing the truth about *. We've heard reports of dedicated Republicans expressing distaste and doubt about *'s policies who have said that they will vote Democrat in the next election.

It looks as though the tides are moving away from *, which means more people on our side to fight the good fight.

Looks like you haven't been around here for very long. We draw on past experience, and knowledge about such things as COINTELPRO (http://www.icdc.com/~paulwolf/cointelpro/cointel.htm , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO). That's where it's coming from.

There are probably both good guys and bad guys among those who signed up recently.

It only takes money and a few willing to make money that way, to create a lot of noise about how "we" should be moderate, not spend time on conspiracy theories because it makes "us" look bad, etc. And the RW has no lack of funds.

Granted. I'm just not so sure we should be quite so cynical about new users. Maybe a little suspicious at first.

That is true. The RW nuts think that we're nuts because of our conspiracy theories. Truth is, we don't really know a lot of what's been going on in DC since * came into office.

And the RW has no lack of funds.

True enough. There's no absence of moneyed RWers and corporate interests.

14. "maybe" leaves a lot of room to be cynical.
Also past experience gives a lot of reason to be cynical.
