HOUSTON -- A man was abducted from a Baytown Wal-Mart by three members of a white supremacist group who killed him, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Police said a group of men went to the store's gun department to purchase ammunition, but left when they found out the store did not have what they were looking for. snip

"They're just getting into their car when the victim just happens to drive by," Capt. Roger Clifford said. "They see the truck that they're looking for, they back out after he passes and follow him to his parking place where they confront him."

Police said the men forced Bobby McCartney, 49, into the passenger's seat, abducted him and stole his truck.

"That was the last he was seen before his body was found out in Liberty County," Clifford said.

I would do my best to defend myself. Although I am a big guy, my back is bad and I cannot put up much of a fight. I know there are many people who think that bad guys routinely take guns away from law abiding crime victims and turn them into shooting victims, but in truth it is a relatively rare event.

BTW: Did you read the article? The man was who was abducted was killed. I don't know about you, but I'd rather die trying to save my life with a gun and run the risk if it being taken away from me than fighting without one. Perhaps you are of the latter kind of person. good luck to you.

BUFORD - Investigators are searching for a man they believe abducted a Lawrenceville teenager from outside the Mall of Georgia on Tuesday. The 16-year-old victim was physically and sexually assaulted after a man blocked her path with his car and drew a gun on her in the parking lot near Barnes & Noble about 2:15 p.m., Gwinnett County police Cpl. Darren Moloney said.

"The victim had parked her car and was walking through the parking lot toward the mall when a vehicle approached her," Moloney said. "The offender threatened the victim to lie down and be still. He then blindfolded her and left the mall."

Investigators with the Special Victims Unit believe the suspect took the victim to a house where the assaults occurred. About two hours after the abduction began, the man released the still-blindfolded victim at a store off Buford Drive near the mall.

They were in their truck when McCartney went by in the parking lot in his; it's not clear they could see him, just his truck. McCartney pulled into a parking spot, the thugs pulled up behind him and grabbed him out of his truck.

You're right that the paper would normally have put the guy's race if he was black. I wish they'd quit doing that because it doesn't change many of the facts of the case--in an economically-motivated murder, you've got a dead man who shouldn't be. That's what matters.

If you were in a blue state with the death penalty, "hate" as an extenuating circumstance might warrant a death sentence instead of a life without parole one, but we're talking Texas now. The culture down there is such that it's fairly easy to pull a death sentence out of a jury. Especially because this murder was in furtherance of grand theft. Texans are just a little intolerant of that.
