Bush Military History Project #13
Journal entry #13

This is being written as a journal in democraticunderground.com and crossposted on Dailykos, Truthout and Myleftwing.
I urge readers of this series to obtain a copy of Unfit Commander by Glenn Smith, the only source of Bush’s military papers in chronological order. Where internet references are not easily available I will give page numbers of this book for reference.
I also urge readers to become familiar with the report by Lt Col Gerald Lechliter, published in the NY Times, available at: http://www.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/opin...
Or Google: NY Times Gerald Lechliter. I will be referring to both of these sources in this study.

To illustrate how current this story is and how its being played out in the media today , consider this latest: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-blum/kicking-dan-when-hes-dow_b_23086.html?p=2#comments What I want you to notice is how “Forged Documents by CBS and Rather” are now the fact of the land—these documents have now been taken in by the media AND the ruling party as false—and they never proved a thing. Their victory is complete—and they never proved a thing. Never even tried to. The media did it for them (snark)

These memos have only been declared false in the media and nowhere else. This is SO odd because if they are forged, why hasn’t the federal government ever done anything about it? Why does CBS, Rather and Mapes let them get away with this? Why does America let them get away with this? (short answer: they misrepresent the papers as: “Private Papers of Col Killian” and CBS helps them do it. We'll be discussing this in the future)

Two of the CBS memos represent official Federal, military documents, no question about it: an official (federal) order to take the physical, signed by Bush’s commander, and an official suspension order, the real one of which should absolutely, by regulation, be in Bush’s files. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-09-09bushdocs.pdf (Pages 3&5) With letterhead of a FEDERAL unit, indicating official FEDERAL business and signed by the commander of that FEDERAL unit in performance of his duties, these represent nothing else but federal military documents—its their only significance in this case. They mean nothing else.

The federal government maintains extensive facilities to investigate and prosecute alleged forgery of federal documents and has complete investigative and prosecutorial powers to pursue this and their word is final. So what has the federal government done about this? So far, absolutely nothing. So far, they’ve evaded all responsibility for these documents although they represent federal documents that, if forged, libel George Bush, his record and his commanders by creating a false order to take the physical, falsifying his real suspension order and implicating Bush and his commanders in a conspiracy to alter official documents. If the papers are forged then someone forged federal orders to libel the President of the United States. And neither Bush nor any part of the Republican dominated government has ever done ANYTHING about it, Bush only said he “hadn’t seen the documents before.” I mean never done anything out front about it, there was a good deal done out of sight, under a rock maybe.

Today I’m going to explain more about the conspiracy to alter official documents and what the CBS papers prove about them. We’ve gone over the OER extensively, enough to prove that Killian and Harris falsified it almost entirely.

They falsely listed him as a pilot despite the fact that he hadn’t flown all year and had been suspended for 9 months of it, another fact they fail to mention. This a pilots performance evaluation! They were trying to pass him off as still a pilot although he was stripped of all qualifications on 1st Aug 1972 (See discharge: Qualifications: NONE

They falsely backdated Bush’s exit from their unit, from the real date of September 6th 1972 (?) to May, as their signed approval of Bush’s temporary transfer on Sep 6th (Killian) and 8th (Hodges) shows. This was done to falsely show that Bush left their unit before they were required to discipline him.

They falsely stated that Bush had been working in Alabama when they had no official confirmation of that at all. The Alabama unit still claims to this day that Bush wasn’t there. In the Correction Demand they point this out too. “…An AF Fm77 should be requested from the training unit (187th, Alabama, allegedly) so that this officer can be rated.

They did not rate him as required ( Correction Demand, ibid “…Ratings must be entered on this officer…”)

So we can definitely see why neither Killian or Harris signed this and why Hodges didn’t confirm it. (We also understand that Hodges knows everything about this) It was phonier than a $3 bill with Nixon’s picture on it.

Why did they write this?? Their scheme from the beginning was to get Bush out of their unit as quick as they could to avoid having to take mandatory disciplinary action against him. They told him back in May 1972 to get lost, to run and hide, to “ghost” in the term of the day. This is proven by the fact that no one in either of the only two units he could have been in remembers him there, the commanders say he wasn’t there and their unit’s records show he wasn’t there. Against that we have the word of Bush and Emily Marks. Tough choice there but I’m going with all the unit’s records and the commanders words—the media and the rest of America went with Bush and Emily.

The Alabama thing never happened and again I’m going with the record on that. It was never meant to happen. The important thing for Killian and Hodges was to get Bush out of their unit, they didn’t care where he went and they didn’t care if he came back. He was a BIG problem for them and a dangerous one. The falsifications they were doing could have ended their careers, put them in jail—if there ever was such a thing as oversight in the TXANG—which looks extremely doubtful at this point.

But they had to end it SOMEHOW. At the end of the year May 1972-73 they had to have SOME indication that Bush had served—especially because he’d been paid 14 days that year. (For What?) So they had to come up with SOMETHING! And this is what they came up with.

Now we can see the situation. They had to have something saying Bush was somewhere but no one wanted to say it or sign their name to it—because it was false.

Killian and Harris wouldn’t have falsified this much voluntarily, there was huge pressure from above. By Now I’m sure all were aware that Bush was getting paid for work he wasn’t doing, could NOT have been doing—he was getting paid as a pilot to be a pilot, was still being listed as a pilot, but he obviously wasn’t being a pilot when he’d been suspended from flying for 9 months of that year and hadn’t flown the whole year.

Killian was a “real Pro” by all accounts, Harris might have been also. Real corrupt pro’s but real pro’s nevertheless. If your superiors were busting your ass to do something illegal, something that could really come back to screw you, what would you do? To do it jeopardizes your career—not to do it also jeopardizes your career. Bear in mind, there’s probably not much chance of it being detected and they were most probably doing this with other politicians sons with peccadilloes also. Who I their right mind would ever have imagined in 1972 that this record would be closely scrutinized because GWB would become President? Bush was a real screw-off at the time with a drug abuse problem as they knew all too well.

If Killian was a real pro, he would have kept documents to show what really happened, how he tried to do his duty but was thwarted by his superiors. This would have been the only thing to save him if all the obvious falsifications he was doing were to be discovered.

And forged, or not, the CBS memos represent what Killian would have saved to cover his ass if he was ever investigated about this matter. He wouldn’t have saved just one, he would have saved enough to prove the whole sequence and he would have put them into a safe place.

Looking at it from this viewpoint—that all of the CBS memos are what Killian would have saved to cover his ass brings the last 2 of the CBS memos into perspective. And these are the most incriminating ones.

Killian woudm hjave tried to get his commanders illegal order on paper—that’s what the “Sir we can’t rate” (Page 6, ibid) memo is about. Its very incriminating for all parties.
The recipient of this memo could only have been Hodges—he was Killians direct superiors. If it is Hodges, than this is another hangman’s noose for him
Killian states the problem Ive laid out—they had no information on Bush for the whole year. He’s asking his commander what to do? Trying to get him on paper.

What was Killian told to do in response to this? The written answer to that could be another hangman’s noose because if Killian was told to “backdate but not rate” or in any way to “sugarcoat” the OER or tell anything but the truth, then this is proof of conspiracy to falsify official federal documents.

And we know that Killian falsified the OER. He “backdated but not rated” and a whole lot more. Its safe to say that that is what he was told to do. Its also safe to say he was responding to an illegal request to rate Bush because he refers to the call about it. Killian wasn’t the one to rate Bush, it was the Alabama units job to do it—if Bush had beeen there. And Killian knows that. He knew what he was bing asked to do was illegal so he wanted to get it in writing from his superior---Hodges.

There’s a slight chance this went to somewhere else but extremely doubtful. Killian probably didn’t put Hodges name on it because it was a smoking gun, but he may have put it on the copy he gave to Hodges.

This line is extremely incriminating for Bush: “…Neither Lt Col Harris or I feel we can rate 1st Lt Bush because he was not training with the 111th F.I.S. since April 1972…” because if this fact is correct than how did Bush get paid for 6 days in January 73 and 2 days in Apr 1973? And what was he paid for doing??

Starting to see why the Republicans HAD to get these papers declared false without ANY official investigation at all?
We’ll be talking a lot more about the crimes of Bush and his superiors in the next installment of BMHP

1. How do you make this actually be investigated by the authorities?
Pay fraud is certainly a violation of the UCMJ, why is the OSI, or whatever the Air Force calls their version of NIS these days totally uninterested? What does It take to get them interested? At some point one would think they would get tired of investigating two stripers and want some big game...

2. Good Question!!
Ive been demanding a federal investigation of this from the very beginining. see: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/9/28/124119/186#2
This will only be settled when America understands that it has been screwed by both the media dn the covernment and demands proper law enforcement. the whole federal government turned their backs on responsibilty to resolve this.
What youre reading is my effort to get this resolved.
Demand a federal investigation of the CBS memos--american needs to know th truth!!
