Poll question: DU is growing rapidly, if you are a newbie, what brought you here?

DU is at 90,850 and will probably hit 91,000 by the end of the weekend. It was just 90,500 a few days ago. Out of curiousity, I wonder what is bringing so many new people here.

I heard about DU from a relative.
About the really recent newbies...school is out for the summer.

but also something suddenly sparked in me to care about politics and what our world is coming to.

7. I came here

mainly because I heard it on the Mike Malloy show a few times and a bit on other message boards . i read good and bad about different message boards form different posters but I always ignore this and check things out with an open mind and see for myself .

It's easy for anyone to make rash judgements and have an opinion . to be honest I see no purpose in freeping . If someone has a problem with a progessive/ dem site or radio show then they need to look inside their own head and clear it out , possibly with a gun .

9. The weather

Its a bit midgy, so i'm here to get away from the biting insects.

10. I found this place out of desperation after the debacle of 2004.

I was figuratively suicidal and so angry another election was stolen.

I would read for hours at a time, trying to hang on to my sanity.

Lately, I started to feel like posting. I just couldn’t until recently, because my posts would have been nothing but a string of curses.

Cathartic…yes….but pointless.

Anyway, I love this place and hope with the enormous people power here, we can reverse the downward spiral of our country

12. I was a poster for a few months in '03...

...but then I lost intrest, mostly because My Mom's dialup internet was slower then molasses in Febuary (DU threads with lots of posts took ages to load), and because I forgot my password. Now that I am a college student in my own apartment with cable internet I rejoined.
