It's not about the US winning in Iraq
The only reason the right-wingers want the troops to stay in, because they don't want to admit they were wrong. They would rather fight a losing battle at others expense, than stand up and say the war was wrong. That is the message Democrats need to convey this year if we want to win anything.

But honestly a lot of Middle America really thinks we're fighting for our very survival over there in Iraq. They don't understand the dynamics of the conflict, so they figure as long as we're bombing Arabs somewhere -- we MUST be doing what we need to do "defend our freedom."
