Tony Snow: bin Laden is responsible for Iraq war

After gushing about Junior carrying his own luggage (Imus: "Didn't Jimmy Carter, when he was humiliating America, didn't he carry his own luggage or something?") the WH spokesperson pinned the Iraq war on "bin Laden and company", and identified the responsibility for ending it on the Iraqis.

IMUS: How are you guys going to get us out of this mess that you all got us into?

SNOW: Well, I think the guys who got us into this mess are bin Laden and company. And the way -- the folks who are going to get us out are the Iraqi government.

It's very clear from the transcript that the topic was Iraq. No mention was made of the broader "War on Terror". They were discussing Operation Delight the Press with Bush's Fantasmagorical Mystery Tour of the Green Zone. In Iraq.

Iraq, where hours before that trip a dispatch were being sent to State about how our own Embassy staff was reporting that the central govt "is not relevant" and asking if there's a plan for them should the embassy be evacuated.
