Why is George W. Bush the President?
I know it's a silly question, but really, why this man? Why now? Why him?

We know he wasn't elected but selected, but why oh why him?

14. it's not gonna happen.
my wife and i drove to dc from chicago in january 2001 to protest at the coronation...i just assumed that MILLIONS of angry citizen-voters would do the same.

they didn't.

the people of this country obviously haven't suffered enough to REALLY want change.

they'd rather go shopping at walmart than try to right an injustice of incalculable scale...

ukraine- now THERE'S a country!

I've been saying for the last couple weeks that the only thing that is going to save our Country is a full scale revolution of historic proportions. Nothing less than a full frontal assault is going to drive these criminals out of power. NOTHING! Voting isn't going to work, as much as it pains me to say that, and we will see that in November. It's going to be up to us, WE THE PEOPLE, to bring Democracy back.

Sign me up. Freedom Fighters for Democracy!

a puppet and a scapegoat? He clearly isn't capable of forming a thought on his own, so he'll do what he's told. And, he's obviously an idiot, so if it becomes necessary, all misdeeds can be attributed to his stupidity and not the failure of the ideology. Just my humble opinion.

interest by BushCo. See the analysis of Bush voter's views that PIPA put out before the election:

http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Pres_Election_04/Report09_29_04.pdf

You'll see that they didn't know what they were voting for.

Nonetheless, there were not enough of them to have won the 2004 election without the Republican cheating that took place before, during and after the election. Read "Fooled Again." Then read Kennedy's article in Rolling Stone.

Faux news viewers believe the '04 election was fair. A majority of people who get their news elsewhere think it was stolen. Can somebody help with a link on that?

36. American Christians have been taking over our country stealthly since
before Reagan. There are books written about it. In the book, "Eternal Hostility: the Struggle between Theocracy and Democracy", by Frederick Carlson, he speaks of dominionism, taking over the world. The very theology Christians believe fits in perfect with the fascism we're witnessing in this country.

Aside from that, Christian ideology fits into fascism like Cinderella's foot fits in the glass slipper:

1) Dominate the beasts of the field, the land (other peoples, other countries, take over what is theirs, etc.)
2) The world is going to end anyway via Armageddon, so don't bother to safeguard the future of our planet for anyone (take yours and theirs while the going is good).
3) The world is going to end anyway via Armageddon, so who gives a damn if we cause world destructive wars by taking over other countries?
4) "We" Christians are going to heaven anyway because Jesus said so, so as long as we say we love Jesus, we can do whatever the hell we want.
5) Proselytizing is mandated in the Bible, so let's take over all those non-Christian "savages" in other countries and turn the entire world into a capitalistic-evangelical theocracy.

Remember, W came virtually out of nowhere and we "misunderestimated" him. We did not take him seriously and made fun of him. It could happen again in '08.... especially now that they have the electronic voting machines in place. Hell, they could even suspend the election "in a time of war" to keep their ventrilolquist dummy around for another 4. I put nothing past them.

52. what does your question mean?
if you mean technically, blow by blow, why him -- it's obvious, isn't it?

they wanted a stupid man they could control after the disaster w. nixon and eventually they found the perfect candidate, a man w. alzheimer's disease, the sainted ronald reagan

you see nixon made a mistake, he had an independent mind, oh he was a crook like all republicans, but he tried to do a few things for the people -- windfall profits tax on oil producers, epa, wage and price controls to keep inflation in check, he even proposed a guaranteed minimum annual income (dole!), so another nixon could simply NOT be risked

so they get reagan the famous moron and his veep was george bush, an equally stupid man who seemed to spend his entire time going to funerals, getting fucked up, and puking off the side of ships (and blaming it on james baker!) or on japanese prime ministers (where it couldn't quite be blamed on anyone else, ooopsie)

alas and alack, after 12 years of republican theft under these morons, even the dimmest american wised up and voted for the democrat, we wouldn't have pants on our ass if we'd had 26 straight years of mental defectives in office, think abt it!

however, after a respite under clinton, during which time the people could rebuild their personal and national wealth, then it was time to find another moron who would allow the republican greed bags to rob the country blind

and who more natural than a moron son of a puking moron?

that's right!

the one man in america who makes dan quayle and poppy bush look like they have heads on their shoulders -- poppy bush's pathetic brain damaged spawn george

that's why him

if it wasn't him it would be another moron

GOP wants stupid people at the helm so they can steal

it was true under US grant, it's true today, it will always be true, forever and amen to the end of time

feck, i should be an american history teacher, that's it in a nutshell, do your own research, but that's it, the republicans behind the scene live to steal and they are not at all embarrassed to have a fool as their public face, indeed, they prefer it for fools are easily fooled by definition

he personally "corrupt" (as far as I know). I'll grant (npi) you that Grant's administration was one of the more corrupt.

My personal feeling about Grant was "great and smart general," "not so great or smart politician." But he did, while President, seriously try to implement black enfranchisement in the southern states then under military occupation.

Look, here is the most unqualified person with a horrible track record and we lose to him TWICE!

I don't sit around marveling at Rove, but looking at where we went wrong.

1) Gore was so OVER (MIS) Managed, he couldn't even win his own state of Tenn (although he did win Florida).
2) Kerry as a senator from Mass, was already behind the 8ball from the get go. Why? Did we think we had it locked up?

Come on, if you can't beat one of the worst presidents in US history, you need to look in the mirror a little bit.

I don't care if he thinks he is the president or others want to sit here and accept they were ripped off by this crime organization , I do not recognise bush as my president , have no respect for him or would be impressed if I met him and he does not represent me in any way , shape or form .

Anyone with a working reasonable brain knows they stole both elections and should bash bush and revolt every chance they get . Like Henry Taylor , here was a guy that spoke out and one of the few who got the chance . Nothing happened from this but Henry has to feel he made his stand and also has closure in doing so .
