And the GOP thinks that this is a good thing - why, again?

1. This administration doesn't pay attention to the American public
the American public is of no importance to the crooks in the WH..

2. Because they're fascists.
They don't care what the American people think.

But, I have to say that this poll gives me hope. I honestly thought most Americans would be for the idiotic Constitution-busting amendment simply because they'd rather be considered patriotic, prima facia, than actually be patriotic by guaranteeing our First Amendment right to free speech.

3. I would like to see an "HONEST" poll on the
NT Times issue. Do people still believe in freedom of the press or are they to scairt by the big bad boogyman.

4. I'm certain that most Americans don't know the first thing about
it. Seriously.

If they know about it, then they're either going to side with the side they already side with (say that three times fast. LOL).

"Sie werden sich auf die Seite der Seite stellen, auf die sie sich schon stellen." (I hope that's right, it's hard enough to get straight in English!)

6. It's a ploy to give the nutcases something they WANT to vote for
to get them to the polls this year. Voting for corruption in Congress is just not going to do it for the GOP and they know it. They're desperate to get SOMETHING on the ballot to draw bigots, haters, and morons to the polls. They think this STUPID amendment will be the honey to draw the ant trail.

They may be right. I don't think they are. I think the flag amendment crazies are very few in number, much fewer than the ones who would have voted on an amendment closing the marriage contract to gays and lesbians.

They are desperate, folks. That's why they're doing this crazy shit instead of facing the real problems.
