Drink Dunkin Donuts coffee, bomb an Iraqi child
That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

The Carlyle Group, top-secret bomb maker and chest deep in everything evil going on in the world, this month completed its acquisition of Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robins. Curiously, Dunkin Donuts stores, at least a hundred of them across the country, were cited in the recent GOA report as having gotten their hands on emergency funds after 9/11. The Bush's are involved...is that coffee and ice cream really THAT good?

Dunkin' Donuts' future will be charted by three private equity firms that reportedly have won the auction for the Pernod Ricard (PDRDF:OTC - commentary - research - Cramer's Take) unit.

Two Boston-area giants, Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee, will join the Carlyle Group in buying the doughnut and coffee chain, whose strongest presence is in the Northeast, several reports said

Every time I think I want a carmel latte...I think of James Baker III...that image makes me sick.

27. Here you go:
Carlyle - whose high-profile investors include George Soros and Saudi Arabia's Prince Alwaleed bin Talal - refutes suggestions it profits from war. Co-founder William Conway even went on record saying 'no one wants to be a beneficiary of 11 September.'

12. Stop thinking Soros is a saint. He's a businessman,
one who knows the current crop of supply side dreamers and neocon hustlers are killing the goose that laid all his golden eggs.

Yes, the Carlyle Group is just that bad. They've gobbled up many large military contractors, their basic business worldwide is dispensing horrible, violent death.

It's really too bad. A lot of anti coffee snob types are going to miss that Dunkie's coffee.

8. Bankrupt baskin robins!
I'm not too worried about this, I just wrote a letter to my local baskin robins store and told them in no uncertain terms that I will be taking all of my business to my good friends ben and jerry! if enough of us do this we not only support a good cause in ben and jerry but also we can put baskin robins out of business and cause the carlyle group to go under!

15. Welcome, Open Mindz
Jesus, 83,000 users and no one thought of Open Mindz until now?

Welcome to DU! I admire your spirit, but I don't have any expectation of putting a dent in Carlyle...they're massive, with long-reaching tentacles. But it woule be a good message to any company; climb in bed with BushCO, say bye-bye to a large portion of your business.

Hey, as the Streeters like to say, it's only business!

20. Um, yeah...
The Carlyle Group makes obscene amounts of money from other things besides donuts and ice cream, but I'm *sure* they're still trembling at the might of masses of informed junk-food consumers.

The evil warlords at Carlyle bought our local telco from Verizon. I'm too dadgum lazy to switch to a cell, plus I'd have to get cable just for the broadband. :puke:

17. I read that the DunkinDonuts had gotten alot of that 911 money
And I figured what Atman has said in his post would be found. Its a real apparent that these bastards in the White House are the most corrupt we will EVER see/Ever.

And Carlyle keeps its secrets well, thats why its so hard to catch them . Carlyle has a long history of hiring the Bushs to get free money from the taxpayers, I believe Senior bush was CEO there at one time.

18. My Baskin Robins story
I worked the Baskin Robins in Harvard Square in the summer of 1993. If you saw "Good Will Hunting," you know the place; it's the one where Damon put the phone number to the window and said "How do you like them apples?"

The place also had a Dunkin Donuts attached to it. We had a mouse problem, so the owner salted traps all over the back room. He took one, a stick trap, and frizzed it through a hole in the wall underneath and behind the back counter in the service area. The trap landed underneath the cake refrigerator.

And the trap caught a mouse. And the mouse died. But because the owner had thrown the trap so far into the hole, he couldn't retrieve it. So the mouse rotted.

At first it was odor. Then it was Odor. Then it was ODOR. Then we had flies. This was August, btw. Got to the point where I started hating customers who ordered ice cream from that side of the store.

The owner had also installed multiple video recorders and microphones to monitor his employees.

I quit at the end of the summer, and a couple of years later, the place went thankfully out of business.

I haven't been back to a B$R since then. As for Dunks, fuckem. There's a great independent coffee shop around the corner.

22. True DD Story...
Not far away, in downtown Springfield, MA. This was at least five/six years ago. I ordered a bagel, and the girl behind the counter didn't use the bagel slicing maching, she picked up a big serated edge knife and started slicing the bagel in her hand! You know where this is going already...she sliced right through the bagel, into her hand, gushed blood, screamed, ran to the back room...I stood there stunned...I had half my order, the coffee, which I had yet to pay for. I didn't want to just leave...but then...

The girl came out of the back room with gauze wrapped around her hand. She proceeded to pick up the same bagel and the same knife and finished slicing my bagel. I kid you not. I stood there in shock as she wrapped it and handed it to me, and told me the total for my order.

"You can't be serious? I can't believe what I just saw! Keep you coffee and bagel! Bye!" and I left, went to my office, and immediately picked up the phone and called DD's HQ and told them what just happened to me. The woman on the other end of the line was as incredulous as I was.

A week later, I received a coupon for one lousy box of doughnuts, with a form letter thanking me for alerting them to a problem in one of their stores. Customer loyalty among the doughnut set comes cheap, I guess!
