I just heard Condi Rice say on NPR news break that she will not
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 04:58 PM by whistle
...request a crease fire between Israel and Hezbollah/Hamas in Lebanon and Gaza because, "...it makes no sense to have a cease fire when it will just start up again." What the fu*k! She is not even asking the parties to stop the blood shed even to protect the fleeing 300,000 plus civilians. This administration is totally inane...no much worse than pointless, BushCo are blood thirsty war mongers with not an once of decency flowing through their veins. Total bastards!

<Self edit>

Here is the press conference anouncement where Condi states how the U.S. pland to seek peace in the region and also where she outlines in her statement word which state why U.S. will not ask for a cease fire in the region. The sound bite clip I heard on the news break an two hours ago was following her statement and a reporters asking Condi to explain why the U.S. (Condi) had no intensions of requesting a ceasefire and that's where Rice stated what I outlined above. Here is the link to the video of Rices press statement, I have still not found a video/audio where the reporters were questioning Condi after her statement.

8. What they're applying is the logic of "Final Solution"

--and they have some support for it right here at DU.
This is not going to be a pitched battle like WWI or WWII where more or less evenly matched opponents slugged it out. It's going to be a sustained regional killing spree waged primarily by one side, Israel and its partner.

The NeoCons may like to call it WWIII, but it's really going to be more like Dresden, My Lai, Deir Yassin, and maybe Hiroshima.

2. Why would she ask to stop?---this is part of US objective--the war on
terror. Irael is doing our work for us in this case.

3. She's calling for war, they all are.
It's in everything they do and say.

We must counter it.

4. With an attitude like that she's right.
I don't know why she even bothers to go over there except maybe to be *'s cheerleader.

6. Of course she and Bushco don't want a ceasefire
This conflict hasn't involved Syria and Iran yet. When it does then Bushco can fulfill all of their PNAC dreams and invade those two countries. Wheels within wheels.

7. I'm distraught, fearful, and pissed off at these warmongers
myself. They don't have the troops or the money to get into this kind of neverending war. And besides, it appears we're already up to our eyeballs in one.

10. This "policy" is bizarre.
The U.S. had no real problems with Hezbollah before this incursion. Now it looks like we will. Will this destroy Hezbollah? Hardly. Conventional attacks like this will only breed more Hezbollah adherents. If Bush and Condi think this is going to stop Hezbollah, they should rethink. Look for suicide attacks on Israel on a massive scale.

And what is this going to do for our troops in Shia Iraq? Are they going to be safer? Will this make the Shia cooperate with us there?

This is mindless stupidity. It isn't a foreign policy. Bush is a moron and Rice is a moron's tool. This is pathetic. And we're going to pay the price.

13. Mindless stupidity at its peak. Have they learned nothing from
Iraq? Look at all the insurgents being borne out of that mess. If this is 'just a distraction', it's a grave one that will have serious consequences.

12. I have tried to find Condi's actual comment on the NPR website
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 04:59 PM by whistle
...but they had purged it or just did not include her comment in the transcript. I heard the sound bite on the NPR 4:00EDT newsbreak report. Did any other DUer hear her words stating, "...it makes no sense to have a cease fire when it will just start up again" or similar to that?
