18. The small pupils are due to the very strong lights used for
mug shots. That, and, of course, some "meds" he's no doubt taking.

11. Thirty Mile Zone.
It's the limit from the major studios that is covered by the unions. All 'local' production theoretically must fall within it. It isn't as strict as it once was, I don't believe.

Stupid name for a stupid gossip show/column.

12. He looks good
compared to other celebrity mug shots. Mel got lucky in life - he was born with a pretty face (it was very pretty in the 80's). He has lived a charmed life because he had good looks. Sadly he never realized how blessed he was.

21. Chill out.
Innocent of what? The police report is there, and he's admitted to everything, apologized and is checking into rehab. A message board isn't exactly the same thing as a court of law.:eyes:

And yeah, it is just you.

26. Liberal? That word is poisoned. I'm a progressive neo-anarchist now.
And who says he's guilty? We just like looking at his mugshot. Especially hilarious in that he used himself as a body double for some of the crucifxasm scenes in his blue-eyed Jesus movie. WWJD? What would Jesus drink? Anyone know?

30. Well, he did apologize, and he has entered rehab. Not sure that
he will be charged with anything. Fame does have its priveleges.

See his statement below. Sounds like he basically admitted drinking and driving to me.

http://et.tv.yahoo.com/newslink/15338/

Over the weekend, Gibson released the following statement:

"After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the L.A. County Sheriffs. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person. I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said, and I apologize to anyone who I have offended.

"Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health."

23. Not a bad picture, really. Except he has Nixon hair.
Again, remember that he wasn't Nolte-level plastered when he became delusionally paranoid about Jews oppressing him. His blood alcohol level was 0.12, which is above the 0.08 legal level, by not soused. That's one reason I have trouble with the "alcoholism" defense. True alkies usually don't stop at tipsy--they drink till they're plastered, sometimes till they pass out.

But whatever. Rehab will force anyone to look at their issues. I wish him well.

24. .0.12 Isn't That High
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 07:34 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
At one time 0.15 was the level of intoxication for DUI purposes in Florida. It was dropped to 0.10 and 0.08.

.012 would be a nice buzz.

31. .12
.12 is close to homeostasis for a true alcoholic (not sure if mel is or not)

a classic alcoholic MAINTAINS at about a .08 to .14

they don't feel "buzzed" until over .20 or so

i once arrested an alcoholic who gave a reading of .464

which is well above LD50.

and he was reasonably cogent

the average person would be unconscious or dead at .464

Like Ann Coulter maybe?

I'm serious. Mel may be a dick, but at least he's not out there EVERY DAMN DAY defaming every Democrat and every liberal and working to further the Puke agenda. Like, say, Arfin' Annie is. Or Rash Limpballs.
