The GOP Senate candidate of CT was banned from Casinos??
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 04:28 PM by LSK
Randi is playing Hardball clips of Tweety asking him if he was asked to leave certain casinos. He also used a fake name at a few times and owed $10k to someone in the 1980s.

I suppose I missed this in an earlier thread...

2. In another thread yesterday
from the Hardball interview, I think it was about counting cards and such....

6. That's actually true, though...
Schlesinger was a blackjack card counter some years back, and got "booked out of" a few casinos, as they say.

7. If it was for card counting, then I don't see what the big deal is...
Card counting is NOT illegal, it just cuts into the casino's odds of winning, so they refuse the play of, or even "book out", players who they suspect of doing this.

14. Is HE campaigning against gambling?
I imagine that he isn't since CT is home to the worlds largest casino, and I don't think you can hold the candidate responsible for the beliefs of the party members in other states. Yes, you will find a lot of people in the Repuke party who believe that gambling is a sin, but you won't find to many of them in Connecticut.

13. It matters in the "family values" party, just like Bil Bennett did...
it's not the gambling, it's the hypocrisy

15. Bill Bennett was a big "morals" guy
as far as what he talked about. I don't know if this guy spent any time talking about the immorality of gambling, and besides, it looks like his own party isn't going to support him anyway.

8. I disagree. Republicans are rallying behind Lieberman across the board
In a way, it has to be pretty humiliating for them to support a candidate who promises to caucus with the Dems. I wish every race in America was like this...

Alas, Lamont has an uphill battle without a stronger repub in the race.

10. No, I don't think so. Lieberman will likely pull the majority of Rep.
voters.

No one is really interested in this guy, including the Republican party. He's a placeholder in their game of Lieberman chicken.

9. Yes. He doesn't seem to think it ought to matter in the least
From what I've heard about the guy, he's a loser -- even if you take politics out of it.

11. He should get together with winger Bill Bennett, the arbiter of "values."
How much did Bill "The Book of Virtues" Bennett gamble away? Something like more than $8 million? And this was during the Clinton administration.

What is it with these right-wing blowhards who publicly proclaim sainthood on themselves, only to be caught in some deed utterly antithetical to the "values" bullshit they've been spouting? :grr:
