The Bush II administration is currently using the recent Osama tape as a means of justifying its unconstitutional domestic spying campaign, extending the Patriot Act and Anti-Terrorist legislation, which infringe on Americans' civil liberties. I'm surprised we're not at "code red" right now. The automatic response of those in opposition to this administration is, "Well, where is Osama bin Laden, anyway??" But there is more than just that one obvious bullet to fire. Immediately in the aftermath of 9/11 the Empire's slogan was, "We'll smoke him out of his hole!" When they were unable to locate him. then it became, "Bin Laden is meaningless and unimportant in the grand scheme of Al Qaeda." Which is it? Is he significant or insignificant? Or is he only significant when this "regime" needs a bogeyman to scare the bejesus out of the American people, and to manipulate Congress into passing legislation which trample American civil liberties to "protect and serve" us. Who is waffling now?? The Executive has virtually become a "police state" and; they justify their power grab via cute little buzz words and phrases, "Remember 9/11, War on Terror, Al Qaeda, shock and awe, protect and serve, National Security, Homeland Security, etc." The events of 9/11 became an all-too-convenient launching point for a massive power play, nationally and internationally, militarily and economically, "globalization". Whenever someone speaks out, they use the "unpatriotic" label, intimidation and threats to quell discontent. Documents are doctored, edited, revised or listed as "classified" to impede the Freedom of Information Act. The findings of the Kean Commission are troublesome and disturbing, when timelines are repeatedly revised to fit the events of 9/11....why weren't those planes shot down? Many in this country believe this administration knows much more than they're disclosing about the attacks on September 11, 2001. The New World Order is taking this country, as well as the planet, down a very dangerous and slippery slope. It's being done in the name of religion, absolute power, and outright greed. Democratic heavy hitters need to make a concerted effort to lambast this administration on all fronts, which are too numerous to get into here. Homeland Security is a farce, a "money pit", when our borders remain porous. This Iraqi war is going to run into the $trillions, not to mention the costs in terms of human life. How long does it take to train Iraqi forced?? We were trained in less than six months before going to Vietnam. If the early results of the recent Iraqi elections are an indication of the "democracy" we've established there, then we'll have helped to create another Shi'ite Islamic state, along the lines of Iran. Is Iran, Syria, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Russia or China next on the "hit list"?? I suppose it's wherever the natural resources are located, wherever we can put the next pipeline. And what about alternative energy sources, anyway??
Thank you for taking the time to read this short message.
