The Bushman knew that Indian Jack was a scoundrel and thief. Yet, he chose to invite him into his teepee to discuss how much campaign money they could get in exchange for their furs and Indian turquoise. When the Medicine Man questioned the Bushman about his friendship with Indian Jack, Bushman felt like he had to lie. He did not want all his braves to know he was in bed with the scoundrel, Indian Jack. So, he lied.
But, the Medicine man had photos. They would prove that Bushman lied. He and Indian Jack were the best of friends and had profitted off selling their furs and turquoise on the black market. Bushman did not want the people to know that Indian Jack had given all braves in the White House firewater whiskey and trips afar with his best horses and whores.
The Bushman told the people that there was an enemy abroad with a great weapon that might destroy our brother tribe, the Israelis, and the people were taken with fear and tremors. They must prepare themselves for war, they thought, to keep the murderous hordes from killing us all.
