Worse than this at...

this is being done in "our" names. Speak out. War is hell. Let's not be a part of it.

1. If more images were shown on TV then maybe the sheeple wouldn't be
so GUNG HO about killing people.

Thank you for bringing awareness to this - even though it is graphic it is the truth....

5. Well, the bushies would just become numb to the images.
The people in the photos aren't white. They aren't graced by God, according to the extreme fundamentalists.

Images like this only whet the appetities of the most extreme of them. They are the people who support bush because, just like him, they enjoy death and destruction at a very basic level of their mind. There's no getting around it. Republicans, for the most part, are pro-war for a reason; it satisfies their need to destroy anyone who is not just like they are.

Not all Republicans. The bush supporters.

That website is a little unfair, because most of the pictures on there were of iraqi civilians killed due to suicide bombers not by americans.

9. i agree,
the pictures were bad yes, and i understand and agree with the purpose of the page but the website was done in poor taste and by what seemed to me to be slightly uneducated people. Whoever was posting those pictures didnt know the story behind them, they just saw some gore and wanted a drastic reaction. they could have done it with a little more credible information.

22. How so?
How was it done in poor taste? Exposing the reality of Iraq is not such bad taste, in my opinion. Secondly, it matters not if they were educated or uneducated, it still has the same validity, no? Moreover, the story behind them is the same: the results of the US invasion. What more does one need to know? A drastic reaction comes from the utterly terrible content of the pictures, not in the way they were presented (and I don't think they "photoshopped" them, if that's what you were getting at). Lastly, what more "credible information" do you need besides the context of the pictures?

I do understand your point though, but tens and tens of thousands have been killed, maimed and injured directly due to our 'shock and awe' like mentality there.

There is not bandwidth to do the Iraqi populace justice.

14. excuse me your 30,000 is according to media reports- and is grossly
underestimated. The Lancet has figures estimated at over a 100,000 as of fall 2004 not considering the devastation to Fallujah, if you want more info I will be glad to provide links.

19. That is insignificant
the terrorist bombings have occured because of the US invasion. Ask yourself: how many terrorist bombings were there in Iraq before the US invasion? Not many, IIRC. That blood is on our hands as much as it is on the terrorists' hands, as we gave terrorists free reign and free targets for no reason.

And by the way...

32. Everyone of us has an inherent sense of what is
right or wrong.
The sickness that US is suffering from because bush has created such a terrible mess that the republicans just cant face it. There is a sense of self guilt. The inability to take responsibility for the horror done in their name. The search like a drowning for any little straw thay can find just just to prolong their moment of self denial.

And this same people will turn into very vicious being where bush is finally held accountable.
Yes, when they finally need to face the horror of bush they will transfer all this guilt onto to him and tear him to pieces.

13. Talking and showing the truth
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 10:57 PM by Whoa_Nelly
Something that needs to be done, is being done...and the debate continues...

We were given the much more of the truth during the Vietnam Era...and damn, that was one motherfucking long era...

The BadBush Overlord Regime Era has to end, or this nightmare continues...

What will it take for the majority of Americans to face the truth and the horror of our times. What will be the single thing or event that will wake our nation the fuck up?

Personally, I feel things have gone on so far for too long to help our citizens get a grip on reality...or will continue to deteriorate until the MSM whores start reporting the truths...every damn one one of them. I blame the MSM for much of the hatred and bias that is eaten daily in the US, like hotcakes going out of style all the while feeding our hungry, our needy with a diet of intentional ignorance and empty hubris.

24. I don't know about those two pics...
But a month or so ago I went to a sight that had horrible images from Irag. One of the pics was an Iraqi man whose entire face and scalp had been removed from his skull/facial bones--in essence they made a mask from an Iraqi man that the soldiers had killed.

Another was an Iraqi man who was beheaded, post-mortum, by the soldiers.

There are some horrifying images out there. We need to bring our men & women home now.

37. war
A photo essay...

http://www.chris-floyd.com/war/

Iraq

You drain the words out of my famished mouth
when you scream,
a sun-drenched cry of dripping dates and palm-green nostalgia.
You, a thought in the womb before birth,
And all the lines of crimson of afterlife,
a bosom of Tigress-scented compassion,
thrown across a desert of aimless caravans.
You, a wan wanderer, in the pages of my history...
Did you know that,
your rains washed away my name,
minutes after baptism,
tattooed tomorrow's memories for eternity...?
But then you turned your face east...
away from me...
Do you recognize me? ...
I am the homeless child that seeks your amputated arms for refuge,
a beggar of identity amidst your grains of blood-drenched sands.
Why have you lost me
when I had hung on to the trains of your abbai,
through all the wars,
all the sores...?
Left my minarets of war-torn memories to crumble into oblivion...
my faith in humankind disemboweled.
You are the truth
-if it ever existed,
belief, when it is all I know.
I know you now
like I know God.
For you are the entity they forbade,
the remnants of the game they played,
the devastated I...

For my beloved Iraq...

Zaineb Alani
39 years old
I'm an Iraqi, living in the US, who survived two wars growing up;
the 'war of attrition' with Iran, and the first Gulf war.
